i was wondering is it possible to install abs into a 2g that didnt come with abs? im just curious also what would it take??

Yes you can do it. Like redfwdsm said, go to a local junkyard and look for a turbo model dsm that came with the abs system, and make sure to get all the lines, system, and connectors for it. Have you ever been in a situation where you really needed the abs ? If not, i would say don't even bother.

yes this past winter it snowed like crazy over here and i remember about 3 times easily that was very bad where i couldve totaled my car but pumped the brakes enough to save my self. Are the calipers and all that stuff the same? what exactly do i need? also since we're on the topic of traction, did these cars have any sort of traction control oem or aftermarket?

if you don't already get some good snow tires. they make a huge diff, in my opinion. abs doesn't help you stop any better on ice. it's so that theoretically you can maintain more control under ridiculously hard braking. like avoiding a deer that runs out on the highway. just use common sense and caution when the roads are bad and you'll be fine.

any car can have traction control(of some kind) if you have the money.

ABS is for dumb drivers that dont know how to use the brakes and "panic stop". but you claimed that you were able to pump the brakes to stop. there is no need. sounds like alot of work for nothing

It would be way more work than it would be worth. I always say the same thing to people that want to remove their ABS. You would have to fabricate and install entirely new hard lines since they are not the same. After that you still need all the ABS parts and wheel speed sensors, the ABS computer...and lots more that I can't think of right now. IMO it would definately not be worth it. Just remember to pump the brake and you'll be fine.:thumb:

you would have to get all the wheel sensors and get the abs system under the hood and all the abs lines leading from the wheels to the abs system and hook it all up and make sure it reads right.

abs is for people who "panic stop" X2

abs acuatlly makes you stop slower becuase he keeps realasing and engaging the brakes really fast giving you less stopping power. plus if you ever get on the brakes too much then you might set it off when you didn't want to.

As long as you don't put the brake pedal all the way down you should still be able to turn. if you don't have time to turn then you should be glad you don't have abs because you will stop much faster.

also buy snow tires and drive according to the driving conditions, you said abs saved your @ss a bunch of times that tells us your still driving too fast and too close to the person in front of you.

drive safe and good luck! :thumb:
