The spring locators for springs like kiggly are a hair size smaller then the stock locators. So you won't have any issues installing your A1's. I just got lucky when I broke mine. I am going to shave my spring locator just a tad when I put it in. That way I will be able to pull the head if I need to.

I am using Manley valves and springs too. My shims are underneath the valve locator seat. Your photo shows a valve locator seat, not a shim. I too had a couple of the ARP nuts only just clear the spings. Nothing to get me rattled though. The head worked fine until the a pinhole leak occurred in the bowl on an exhaust port. The real reason I am posting to ask you where you got that valve spring compressor and how much did it cost?

I am running Crower S+R's and I did not have any issues with install of my A1's. I also got mine from MAP(thanks guys). So far they are holding plenty of boost.
