st-aubert,
hey guys thanks in advance for your help...i have a couple of problems with my 1g dsm.

1.Idle surge when the engine is cold(maybe IAC valve?excuse my noobism)
2.When i go WOT it stall at a certain RPM(vary each time i go WOT)
3.My MBC isn't working properly and I can't set it.it's like I'm alway running max boost.any diagram or some kind of vaccum drawing or anything would be greatly appreciated.

i dont know if it may be useful to know but my BOV is VTA i know it's a bad thing.
i bought a new one that is adjustable

and on a side note that would be nice if you could tell me what are your fav sites to get performance parts for your dsm i know there's vendor ad everywhere, but i'm just wondering...

thanks again and i'm desperatly looking for info because i like the car and want to keep it...

I have a 91 AWD Tsi and from what it sounds like you are having the same problem I was having. The idle surge is probably from a worn throttle body and it cant really be helped if it is. The possibility of the IAC being bad is about a 100%. They are expensive and the only place I would get one from personally is the dealer. Its up to you. The good news is your main problem with the stall at WOT was cheap to fix for me. I would have a look at the ECU and see if there is a sign of leaky capacitors. If they haven't ever been replaced they need to be. I was able to find all three caps for $0.59 cents. It took me about a half hour to get the old ones out and the new ones soldered in. The car runs awesome again and I would imagine some of that is from the new oem IAC that I had already put in and some general maintenance I did trying to solve the bogging issue I had before I replaced the caps. It is also recommended that you take apart the throttle body and intake manifold to try and remove some of the carbon that is built up in there. It doesn't seem to help very much if you ask me. The car wouldn't even run after about a year of the WOT bogging problem I was having and now it runs great again. Good Luck and let us know how it goes...:hellyeah:

I'm pretty sure VTA is the source of half my problems. For the RPM stall thing my opinion is it's some kind of fuel cut from my injectors because they are already compensating the lost of air that is sent to the atmosphere by my BOV.I may be wrong but it seems pretty logical to me.Thanks for your help and I will keep you guys updated.I will verify everything AGAIN to be sure, you never know heh...

It's TRUE your venting to the atmosphere with a system that is expecting the turbo to recycle the vented gasses. It probably isn't helping the situation. I was having the exact same symptoms with the bogging when I would go for WOT and it happened at different rpms and eventually the car would not run well enough to drive. I bet you have noticed the car running rich sometimes and giving off a nice puff of smoke between shifts when you are trying to accelerate hard. From start to finish with this intermittent problem, I had spent almost a year and a half trying to figure it out. I spent just under a thousand bucks and about 5 of those months with my car not running well enough to drive it. Then my buddy said "just get some caps and solder em' in. What do ya have to lose?".

Well? $0.59 cents I guess? :aha:

Haha well I've spent too much time trying to find the problem I will make a custom pipe to send the air back to the intake.I'm pretty sure it will solve my problems.Yes I noticed the white smoke between shifts and yes it runs rich, bad MPG.Thanks for your help it is very appreciated the car is just too nice to give up it gave me alot of fun last summer. :D

You should do your homework!? Venting to atmosphere in a setup that is not meant to do so would cause you to run extremely rich between shifts, which of course if you doing a WOT pull would be even worse, causing you to stall.

also you should reroute the released air back into the intake, to fix your rich problem. venting to the atmosphere is only applicable if you have a maf or mas after the BOV.

Thanks @ the above guys.Yes I will reroute my air back to the intake. Also is there any site where I can find vaccum lines info on where to correctly connect them because I just can't find what I did wrong when installing my MBC.It is the first time I do it wrong and it's on my own car..... -_-

I have the service manual and I will try to scan the pages you need and post them in a day or so. Hope that helps. Good luck with the car.:D
