Ookey, so my Check engine light is on, and according to the previous owner it has always been on since he bought it a few years back (strange enough...). Bought it yesterday and while driving it home didn't notice anything wrong with it but today while giving it another more detailed test drive I noted some minor nudging on low revs so it stalls the engine ever so slightly, especially after flooring the pedal and settling on a lower rev after getting up speed.

I took out the fault codes and here's what I got:
12 - direct power input to the PCM has been disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles

51 - Fuel System Lean

21 - Downstream H02S shorted to voltage

31 - Evaporative purge flow monitor failure

and then 55 to end it up.

I'm guessing it's a worn O2 sensor, but would like to hear your input? I understood from searching around that there's a few of them? I'm assuming it's a 420A engine, here's a few pics (if you could confirm that as well?):

I may have access to a OBD2 scanner later on, if that helps..?

Also I think the freeflow filter is in a very strange place, wouldn't the idea be to get cooler air into the engine, not hotter like it currently is sucking air next to the exhaust...? Or am I missing something (I'm more experienced in NA V8s...).

Interestingly enough also I found a strange gizmo by the driver's right knee...

A friend of mine commented that it may be some sort of ECU / O2 bypass thingy, but I'm more oriented into something to do with a car stereo system (that's no longer in the car). Wires go into the dash from below, have not taken time yet to investigate further. Does it look familiar to anyone? :tease:

...and answering myself, that gizmo seems to be indeed into the subwoofer category, found a similar one, so unfortunately no it's not tied up to any performance addons. :boring:

I've just found a working OBD2 reader and hoping to get more details out of the CEL today. Hopefully it'll get resolved soon, and now that I've been lurking around different posts it seems I indeed to have the A420 engine.

Also I've been doing the ebay thing also half of today and it seems parts are fairly easy to get and quite cheap compared to my other cars. Nice surprise. ;)
