I've got my 96 GSX that I am putting a 99 ECU into. My 1g CAS came in the mail, and I have a Tactrix 2.0 coming in the mail. I have been trying to read up on everything I need to do, and I was looking at ceddy.us for info.

Then I just saw this and am wondering if I will still be able to use this 99 Spyder ECU I have:

"98-99 Spyder Ecus are compatible Flash wise.
The only hardware difference with the Spyder Ecus, is the Fuel Pump Pin.
The Spyders output +5v to turn on the Fuel Pump Module.
While the DSM pull +12v to ground to turn on the Fuel Pump Relay."

H8 ECUs « ceddy.us

Is this going to be a problem? What should I do?

Yes, you will be able to use this ecu in your car. Though its from a 99 spyder, you will be using either a 98 gsx rom or 99 gsx rom completely converting your ecu from a 99 spyder to either a 98 or 99 gsx ecu.

EVEN if you just wanted to plug it in a drive away, there still would be NO problems regaurding the difference in voltages.

Just use a 5 volt relay. So the 5 volt signal from the Spyder ecu, closes the relay, and grounds the Fuel Pump Relay ecu wire.

Besides the Fuel Pump Relay/Fuel Pump Module output differences the two ecus are exactly the same. You can flash Roms between any of the flashable ECU's with the same Board number as the Rom structure is the same for all the H8 Ecu's.

Oh, ok.

Would you mind posting a link to the relay I should use? And where would I wire it in?

Also, I am wondering if this is even an issue. The 2.4 Spyders have an H8, but mine was from a Turbo 2.0 Spyder, so I am not sure if this is even an issue.

My part number is:
MD359402
E2T68282

I found this:
('99)
2.0L Normally Aspirated auto trans - 05269834AK
2.0L Normally Aspirated manual trans - 05269833AK
2.0L AWD Turbocharged - MD359403
2.0L FWD Turbocharged - MD359402
2.4L SOHC w/Calif ECS - MD359404
2.4L SOHC w/o Calif ECS - MD359405

So I think I'm good?

Bump from the dead. ^^^ This guy realized he had a turbo ECU, but there are a lot of these non turbo ECU's floating around and this we be a good question to be answered thoroughly, and maybe move this to the Tuning/Engine Management sub forum. Can anyone explain how to wire in the 5V relay to run the Spyder ECU (non turbo)? Or give a quick run though on how to wire in a toggle switch to ground the Fuel pump wire from the ECU, ala poor mans kill switch?
