Need help guys, First I just wanted some info on my car, If anyone out there knows if there is anything special I should know about my car. I just got it like 2 weeks ago, it has 60k on it and is in good condition. Does it have any special performance parts that come stock on it, or does it just have a afancy name. Please let me know guys, oh by the way, what does DSM stand for

Never realy heard of an O-Z eclipse but have heard of a Lancer O-Z Ralliart. nothing realy special in your car only becuase it doesnt have a turbo. but nice year i guess and it's probly clean.

well i tried to do a little research but all I cold find was that it was 10th anniversary O-Z, it came with the OZ rims and the tall wing, leather and eveything power but i just wasnt too sure bout the engine, is a tranny swap expensive on these cars

there is nothing special about the ozralli edision just it came wit the turbo wing and rims proble a few little upgraded things like suspension it comes wit a stock 420a nothing really special about it

OZralli only came in GS model

its just like the ozralli lancer all ## paying for is rims, a shiny tip exhaust and leather thats about it

The OZ edition I believe, came with 2 noticeable things to me. The OZ rims, and a high wing. I'm a 1G guy, so I am sure someone else will chime in. But I am about 100% sure that it has no extra "motor" performance parts. As far as what DSM stands for, please search. That almost made me cry.

someone needs to brush up on there dsm history it sounds like but basically all dsm was, was when chrystler and mitsubishi teamed up a built a full line of unreliable cars :D :)

Also came with white face gauges I believe. 10th Anniversary edition eclipse......GS model...looks like a stock 97-99 GSX/GST except with OZ edition rims and single tip exhaust..

:nono: none of that noob crap here man. We were all there once and dont pull that with those who just want to know. Trust me its hard enough trying to get a answer when you dont even know about your car. On the other side. You car was made for looks. Not speed or power. How much did you pay for it.Also it came with a short shifter and different gear box. Nothen special really.

What was that a joke? I give someone who is "new"(hence the term noob) some very good reading on the history of his car company and you are going to give me slack about calling him a "noob". I really dont want to waste the time here, but you are barking up the wrong tree. As far as you thinking that the OZ edition eclipse having a different gearbox, I think that you need to start doing less bashing and do some research yourself.

Yeah that "short shifter and different gearbox" is bs. Where are you getting this crap? Also, yeah the '99 OZ did come with white(silver) face gauges, but only because it's a 1999— all eclipses did that year.

The 1999 OZ edition is a GS with: high wing, leather seats, 16" OZ rims. That's what I know for sure, but if there's more then chime in.

Good job, that's the only differences right there.

Not all 1999 eclipses came with white/silver gauge faces, I have a RS and it has the black faced ones also. I'm not sure if only the OZ, GST, or GSX have them though.

Also, there is NO short shifter, nor different gear box in the OZ edition. Sorry eldiabloz13.

Sorry bro, there is no other performance done to the OZ edition other than what people said. Back in 99, I was once in your shoes and new nothing about DSM's. The dealership car sells man sucker me into the OZ edition telling me that it was better than GS, RS and the turbo modle becuase for insurance purpose. He also lied and said that there was an 5 hp performance done to it. So I bought it, yeah I only 17 then and after a few months later I regreted it. I had wished to crash my car and I did. I total it and bought me the 98 GSX used at 5k miles. Love it ever since.

The dealership service manager that I new told me that the motor on thos cars are week and always have problems after 45k. Most of the eclipse that come in for motor service are for the chrysler motor and a few from the 1g dsm that blew there motors, other then that, the 2g dsm don't have much issues until someone blows there tranny by driving it too hard.

But hey, the OZ are one good looking car tho.

thanx guys... youve all been a real help, yeah first thing im gonna do is just save up for the manual tranny then bolt on watever i need... but uh, yeah thanx

I would enjoy the gas milage and looks of the car. Put a nice set of rims and get some suspension work and call it a day. You can bolt on everything under the sun in the engine bay and it will still be slow. I went that route, I speak from experience. Just trying to help you out in the long run.

He has the chrysler motor, so wouldn't that be an issue? I had a n/t and it gave me no problems until it rolled up around 120,xxx. The OZ's are sweet lookin and great means of transportation what with the gas mileage. Should be a nice ride for you, but why not save that tranny money and put it towards a turbo dsm??:sneaky: Oh ya, I guess don't drive too hard;)

well it seems actually reading some stuff gave me that reason why i said that. If you wana read that link then it will show you a 99oz edition eclipse. And there they state what i said. If you got a problem with me saying that its b/c i read it on there and posted it b/c usually a site would be factual or am i wrong here also. Sorry for doing research then people.

We encourage you to research as much as possible; but properly interpreting that research is paramount.

The gearbox was short shift, with a gear-stick which was superbly placed, and a nice, light clutch.
...Does not mean "came with a short shifter and a different gear box." I can see how you would have thought that though; the sentence was worded rather akwardly. Just be careful while taking auto reviews word for word...

Yeah, a friend of mine has a 99OZ Edition

Nothin speical bout it but the Seats, Fin, and Rims.

Its an Auto, and that thing is slow as bawls. :toobad:
