So i recently swapped in a 99 GST engine and 99 black box ecu into my 97 euro eclipse. The car orignally came with a 4g63 na engine.

For the swap, we put in the GST engine and ECU, and added turbo sensors to the original NA harness. We added the MAP sensor, injector resistors box, and the fuel pressure solenoid. The har currently has a manual boost controller and a fuelabs fuel pressure regulator set between 42 and 43 PSI.
Also installed a walbro 190.

The car will not start. The starter works because it cranks but does not start.
I tried swapping pins 8 and 22, and the result is that if i manually push the MPI relay, the fuel pump will work. Without the swapping the pins, the fuel pump will not kick on. The injectors are not opening properly as well or at all.

When pins 8 and 22 are swapped, the car will start and run with the NA ECU unit, however, with the black box unit, it will not start, only crank.

Im in the process of tearing my hair out of my head, please help....
 
I think the immobilizer is causing your problem. ill see if i can find some diagrams.

To clarify, when using the 99 ECU and after having swapped pins 8 and 22 the car will still not start. When i manually engage the MPI relay, i can hear the fuel pump kick in, but when i try to start it with the relay on, it still will not start.

Do you think there is more than only swapping pins 8 and 22 for the immobilizer?

what i would try is
at the immobilizer ECU find the orange wire at pin 13 and the pink wire at pin 14
cut them from the connector. make sure an leave enough wire in case you ever need to reconnect them.
then you want to bypass the immobilizer so connect the 2 cut wires together (on the harness side, NOT the connector side)
make sense?

So i just tried it. Cut the orange ane pink wire and connected them on harness side but the car still will not start up. Same issue as last time, however, before i could start it up with the NA ecu it originally came with, now it will not start with that ECU aswell
Tries both having the connector plugged in and unplugged, but no success......

I was thinking of looking at the wires for the resistor pack, however since it already started up with the NA ecu before, i would imagine they are correctly wired?
Is there anyrhing else in these cars that can disable the injectors and fuel pump in this way?
 
Could it be that one of the two relays is bad and that is why the injectors and fuel pump are not working correctly? Its strange that i have to manually push in the relay for the pump to work on th 1999 ecu. Also tried to swap the plugs 4-1 and 3-2, but not success also.
 
if you look here, ECU pin 62 is used for [ - ] ground on vehicles with an immobilizer.
On vehicles without an immobilizer, ECU pin 62 provides [+]12v(battery voltage)

so even if connecting pins 13 and 14 on the immobilizer ecu doesn't fix the problem, it still needs to be wired that way for the odb2 to work.

you don't need to swap plug wires if your using a 99 ecu. you only need to swap them if using a 95-96 cam sensor with a 97-99 ecu, or a 97-99 cam sensor with a 95-96 ecu
 
Do you suggest leaving the connector for the immobilizer connected or disconnected when the orange and pink wires are soldered together?
The only thing i have not connected yet are the emission sensors, but the car started up with the NA ECU without those sensors, and i dont think they affect the starting on the 99 ECU.

For the resistor wiring, there are 4 wires coming from the ECU that go to each injector. Then there are 4 red wires from each injector that go directly to the resistor pack. Then there is one wire from the resistor pack that goes to a 12v constant source. Since the car started up with the NA ecu, i would imagine that this setup with the resistor pack is correct?
 
resistor pack is correct. i would try with the immobilizer ecu unplugged.
Turn on the key and check to see if your getting power at ECU pin 82 (black/white)
 
Is there supposed to be a wire going in to ECU pin 82? According to this table, it should be empty? or?

the euro spec manuals i have don't really say much about the immobilizer operation. Any chance you know where to find the euro spec technical information manual?
 
when you turn the key on, power flows from the ignition switch to ECU pin 82. that signals the ecu activate the relay. See HERE

here are the EDM pinouts. pin 92 is your sensor ground since its not really clear on these

No, the only EDM specs i have are the same as you have, since you sent me a link to some a while ago :D

Okei, so i should check that pin 82 does in fact get power and 92 is grounded?
Im starting to think that the easiest thing to do is get a 99 engine harness and be done with it haha..

 
you don't need to worry about pin 92 i just mentioned it cause it wasn't clear on the docs i just posted.
but yes check for power at pin 82.

MPI Relay function:

The 2G ECU receives backup power on pin 80 from Junction Box fuse #19 (room) in the drivers footwell fusebox. This is used to maintain the RAM in the ECU's CPU and allow the ECU to power itself up. It also provides power to the radio to maintain it's settings and to the cabin lights. Like MPI relay input pins the backup power on ECU pin 80 should be present all the time. In other words it's unswitched.

The ECU sits dormant in a powered down state waiting to see pin 82 (IG1 from ignition switch) go high (to battery voltage). When the IG1 from ignition switch goes high the ECU pulls pin 38 low (to ground). This causes the the MPI/MFI relay to activate and switches the MPI power from the input to the output pins providing power to the ECU on pins 12 and 25 along with various sensors, solenoids, injectors, ISC, and O2 Heater in the engine bay.

Shortly after battery voltage shows up on ECU pins 12 and 25 the reset circuit in the ECU wakes the ECU up, the CEL will come on for about 5 seconds and then turn off, the boost gauge will display 0 (Stock ECU software on turbo cars) and the ISC on the throttle body will move in and out to rehome.

The next interesting condition is when ECU pin 71 (indirectly START from the ignition switch) goes high (to battery voltage) causing the ECU to do the things it needs to do the start the engine.

Once the engine is spinning (CAS is pulsing) the ECU pulls pin 8 (The Fuel Pump Control signal)) to ground and continues to hold it low until you turn the car off or the engine stops (CAS stops pulsing for 10 seconds), to keep the fuel pump powered.
 
just checked it and pin 82 reads 12,6 volts....thats correct?
Checked pin 38 and it reads 0, so its grounded.
 
Just swapped pin 8 and 22 again, and tried to start while the immobilizer connector is not connected. The pink and orange wires were cut out and connected together also. What i have now is fuel pressure without engaging the relay, but it still wont start.
