98 TCU throw code with no lock-up?

if there is no lock-up solenoid the trans goes into limp mode? does plugging in dummy solenoid eliminate code? or 10k OHM resistor?

also cant find real answer whether FWD and AWD TCU can swap without throwing code. everyone responding just sounds like they are theorizing wih no actual experience.

I am looking for real answers from those who have actual testing
