Sorry for asking but haven't seen an answer to this question while searching, also sorry as it may be a dumb question but here it goes:

Am getting ready to do this on my spyder which I just bought for that matter, but I have 1 concern.

- Will I have any problems getting the car through emissions after doing this swap? Car in question is a 98 Spyder.

I already ordered all needed parts, as the car was sold to me because its beginning to knock although barely noticeable only on startup, so I picked it up for 500. Still turns on fine but am afraid of driving it to emission as it is and risking more damage, therefore if it can make it through emission after all the work is done then I'll do that.

Thanks in advance for any and all input everyone.

An engine that has knock, has wear. Worn rings, valve seats, valve seals, etc., will increase your emissions. I wouldn't trust it to pass as is.

A 4G64 with a 4G63 head will not pollute any more than a 4G63 with a 4G63 head.

You will have lower emissions with a rebuilt engine.

Makes sense!, well I took apart the motor today, it wasnt a rod knock after all. It was a balance shaft bearing had come out and the shaft was flapping around. That makes my life easier as that was going to be eliminated anyways. Also cylinder walls look great and crankshaft looks good, but will be taking it to the shop to get it verified and the block to have it check as well and cleaned as I will be tapping the 5 holes that need to be eliminated.

Thanks for the advice though, also I checked and there are some emission centers in my area that won't run the car, just plug in the obd and scan for codes, so that makes it a lot easier. Have a good one!
