Ok so I’m not particularly well versed in the mechanics of cars & I’m stumped on this at the moment, hoping someone can help.

My 98 is having several issues, the main of which I’m concerned with is that I can flick on the headlights without a key in the ignition. To prevent whatever relay from draining my battery I’ve started disconnecting the negative & sometimes when I reconnect, the engine cranks on its own. Outside of that, It's been getting slow crank/crank no starts at times & stalls while driving as well. I got a check engine light & scanned the codes for the camshaft sensor (P0340) but I’m thinking it’s probably something electrical or maybe a combination of issues IDK.

I bought the car from a guy that did quite a bit of makeshift work but most of that was for radio/aftermarket top/stereo, nothing performance wise I suppose. And it was sitting for about a year before I moved back to Pennsylvania and been driving it for about 2 weeks. I’m gonna replace the cam shaft sensor right now since that’s all I can really do ATM but if anyone knows this car better than I, I’d appreciate anything.

Allowing the headlights turning on by the headlight switch without key in ignition is the way it is designed to work from factory (although a chime should then ring when drivers door is opened in this condition).
