98 GSX First gear question can u help me???

I bought a 98 GSX 5 speed and i never drove the car it had a blown motor and now the guy that owned it said that it was really hard to get into first gear. He said you had to push really hard to get it in! I was wondering if this was a major problem with the 2g awd;s?? Any idea what this sounds like??? Or any fixes?? I will have the motor/tranny out tommorow (finally) But was wondering if i may be able to fix this in stead of taking it to a tranny shop cause i really dont want a pay big bucks!! Any help would really be nice thanks!!

Ya i guess ur right there ! But i thought there might be something that goes on these trannys and maby i could fix it?? But maby i will just take it in!! What do u guys think it sounds like!!???

all of my 2g's ive had dont like to go into 1st while moving, that might be what the guy means, if so that is pretty normal, adjust clutch pedal or push harder, its kinda hard to tell what your car is doing , elaberate alil and you might get some better answers, good luck though

Well this sucks i talked to the guy that owned the car last night and he said that the car was popping out of first gear sometimes so i guess i will have to get it fixed since i have the tranny allready out of the car! What seeems to be the most common problem in this case?? Again he said all other gears were fine and sounded ok! Just first would pop out the odd time! Thanks for ur help.

if you already have it out, I'd send it off to Shep and have him rebuild it. You'll probably never have another problem with it.
