So my winter beater(95gsx auto) shit out on me a few days ago. I was driving along just fine and all of a sudden it wouldnt turn on when i stopped to get gas. Waited a few hours and it started up and drove home just fine. Stopped it in my driveway and it wouldnt move. Waited overnight and it starts right up. When it doesnt start i can hear the ecu clicking and it being an upstate ny car its probably got bad caps in its ecu.

Now i have a 98 gsx ecu sitting in my garage that i know is good, the only reason its not in my 98 is because i have a chipped ecu in there. My question is what wire swaps or mods do i have to do to get this to work in my 95, i know i have a couple different options.

Also just to make it interesting i have an extra 1g cas if needed and maybe even a 97+ cas.... not positive on that.

Solution
swapping the wires only changes the firing order of the spark plugs thought not the fuel injectors, i thought the cam angle sensor being inverted caused a little more problems then just the firing order. It's been a while but i recall people running into issues at like 3k rpms without changing anything other than firing order.

Its hit or miss just swapping wires. Personally I preffer swapping pins in the ecu harness instead of swapping wires at the coil pack. I straighten out a medium sized cotter pin to help release the contacts from the harness.

Then you swap pins 10 and 23. That will do the plug wire swap at the ecu harness instead of swapping wires. That way you can leave your plug wires in the correct order on...

Then swap 1 to 14, 2 to 1, 15 to 2, and 14 to 15. This does injectors. It swaps the injectors so they will fire at the correct time.

I have done this and it works no issues if done correctly.

Honestly if you have a 97+ CAS then putting that on the engine would be your best bet. That way you don’t have to change any wiring just make yourself an extension harness. If you have any other mods done to the 95 that the chip is compensating for (bigger injectors)? If so you need to plan on flashing the 98 ECU to compensate. You will need to add in the wiring in for that or put the ECU back into the 98 to flash the rom.

+ 1. Thats what I had to do.

thats exactly the answer i was looking for, i knew you could do it so there are no ill affects on the car :)

ive had tons of dsms, and i know i've seen the posts in the past and this was exactly what im looking for.

Someone should sticky this because i would have to assume 1995 ecu's are getting pretty hard to find.
