Hey, I am trying to put a 98 ECU in my 95 (I ruined my 95 eprom trying to socket it.) but I can not get the car to start. I flipped the plugs around from 4123 to 1432 as I read on the forums. But still can not get it to start.

Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks.

Solution
Got the car started! I think one of the plug wires were not seated correctly.

3214 is the firing order it is currently running with/

Thanks guys!

Try doing the normal firing order.

From your explanation it sounds like you swapped the 1&4 wires and the 2&3 wires, which would be changing nothing because 1&4 are on the same coil and 2 & 3 are on the same coil.

You need to swap 1 & 2, and 3 & 4, basically you just need to swap which coil goes to which cylinder.

That's all you need to do to get it to run, but for the best results you should swap the injector plugins also.

Yeah, you're right. Swap 1 & 2 with 3 & 4.

I tried 3214 and still nothing.

The car ran fine with the 95 ecu before I broke it.

the top left illustration on that pic SHOULD still work for your car. Have some one start the car(with the injectors disconected) While cranking, pull out one plug wire at a time(at the spark plug and check if there is any spark created while cranking the engine). So have someone crank EACH time you pull out ONE spark plug wire and get back with us with the result.

3,2,1,4 is HOW YOU SPARK PLUGS SHOULD BE because you are running a 98 ecu on a 95 so the CAS signal gets inverted... TRY DOING THIS FIRST!

Solution
If you plan on deciding on upgrading to a 1G CAS and still using that 98 ECU then your coil pack will read like factory firing orders(4,1,2,3) and NO injector trigger wires will have to be switched around. Right now your car might run a bit rough and you might get a missfire code, "check engine light".

Yeah it runs pretty rough, but it is enough to move. I will hopefully be going back to a stock eprom as soon as I scrounge some cash to get it fixed :thumb:

I am thinking of switching the injector wires around as well, as it runs pretty rough. So I just swap the little plugs that go into the injectors right?
