I recently did a swap on a 95 talon tsi awd to a 97 motor. I know, I know, should have gone 6 bolt, but I got the motor for real cheap and needed one.
But to my problem, I got everything installed, all vacuum lines, connectors, etc. I have fuel and spark but it won't turn over. It will sit there and crank and crank but doesn't want to start. One thing I noticed while doing the swap, the cam sensor on the 97 is on the let side of the valve cover while on the 95 it comes out of the timing cover. So I rewired/extended so the wires will reach the cam sensor on the 97 and got a new connector for it. Is this going to work? or does the 97 cam sensor use different voltage?
Is there anything that I have to change, like the firing order, connectors, or anything that might keep it from starting when doing this swap? The car has been sitting for almost a year now but I put new gas in it. What would my motor be doing if I had a bad ECU? Anything you can think of would be a big help.
Thanks in advance.
