Hey guys this is my first post i am having some issues ive had my 97 gst spyder for about 4 years now and i just recently blew the motor i have aquired a 95 eagle talon tsi fwd and have both cars in a shop awaiting a swap but the problem is they say the motors are different and i just need another opinion on what i should do i just thought the motors were the same any help would be greatly appreciated

hmm...sounds like either one of your cars isnt really factory turbo (which im sure you would know) or your shop of choice needs to be changed. Even if the motor in the TSi was a 6 bolt, its already installed in a 2g-it would be a simple swap, just pull out both motors, install, and enjoy!

thanks for the response i think it sounds like they dont know what they are doing so ill take the cars elsewhere

yeah i noticed the cam sensors and thats why these mechanics wont mess with it i should just gor swap the cam sensors and let them do the rest

ive wired everything up and sometimes the motor runs and sometimes it doesnt i have the red black and yellow wires hooked up but there is no cam sensor plug so i have no idea where to plug the white wire into i am running the 95 ecu thats the only way it would run so im stuck any help would be greatly appreciated

All you had to do was swap the '95 engine into your '97 GST Spyder and retain the CAS (and, for ease of the swap, the intake cam) from your '97 engine. Everything else would have remained the same. Even if you didn't have the intake cam or it was damaged, you could have drilled and tapped the end of the '95 cam to accept the '97+ CAS.

It sounds like you severely over complicated this. You have a '97 GST Spyder and a '95 ECU which will expect an inverted CAS signal (see page 8 of the article linked immediately below or swap the plug wires to handle that issue). If you are trying to use a 1G CAS, the white wire goes to the blue w/ red wire (see page 7 of this write-up: http://magnusmotorsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/1gina2g.pdf) on the cam sensor plug. In your '97, the cam sensor plug will be by the throttle body: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/151528370-post11.html.

Edit: And this thread just popped up, I assume it is pretty similar to what you are doing. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/365827-1g-cas-wiring-2g-cant-locate-cam-sensor-plug.html
