2G 97 GST smokes at idle P1500 P0443

I have searched and found nothing really on my problem. I just bought this 97 Eclipse GST and it was all fine and running great, but now 2 weeks later the CEL came on and I got two codes one was P1500, and... P0443. Sorry I'm new to all this. I know what they mean but I'm sure my alt is ok. It said my alt was shorted or not good but I can drive it fine.

Now the real problem, I can drive the car fine but if I sit for more then 30 secs it has little blue smoke if I tap the gas. When I'm driving I notice the oil pressure is in the middle but as soon as I stop I can watch the oil gauge go all the way down and smoke. I need to get this inspected in a week and need help ASAP please.

And I figure out I have a med crack in my exhaust manifold, will that cause anything?

How many miles are on your car? They are this things call valvestem seals which would make your car smoke if they are worn down. They start failing around 120k but if the oil is not changed often enought they could fail around 60k. The good thing is that it is relative easy fix but you might have to tear-down the head. Other than that its easy and the seals are cheap.

The blue smoke at idle, is bad valve stem seals, just like l8vr14dsm95 said.
The seals will take a bit of time to be done on the car, but it can be done, check the tech articles for one of the how tos..

As far as the codes go, search the board, I am sure they have been covered before.

Use a thicker oil, or change your valve seals....or both.

Yeap, Seal Steam.

I replaced my GST Spyder's, and it is not a big deal to replace them.
Check on the Article Section, on How To.

Yeah I have thought that was what it was but before I went into all that I was just making sure. I use a 10w30 and I have 139xxx I think I did good unless the other owner had to do it. No papers (he gave me all the papers on everything from oil change to tires and valve cover seal) on it but like I said I'm new to DSM. I'm new to the turbo system too.

So thanks again for helping me again. Anyone near the STL Missouri area we can meet and cruse together some time.

Sorry I also meant to ask if it was the seals wouldn't it smoke at high rpm too?
