97 gst ecu on a 95 gsx ????

Yes, it will work just find. Your 97 GS-T ecu might have a speed limiter but that is about it. Oh, and your 95 ECU was better because it was EPROM.

The CAS signal is inverted between the 95 and 97 ECUs, and therefore I would recommend against it. Also, not all 95 ECUs have EPROMs, in fact the majority do not.

i had a 95 eprom ecu. but it was causing problems. i was replacing the rear 02 sensor and i cut it while the car was running. all of a sudden it starting running real rich and blowing white smoke and idling at 200 rpm and almost turning off. i put my 96 ecu and it worked fine. but its my ecu, so i need to buy an ecu.

so i can just plug an 97 ecu and will work fine or not? because of the inverted cam signal.

I wouldn't really recommend it.

When my DSMLink was accidentally set to invert the CAS signal (make it compatible for 97-99 cars) the car compensated by trying to keep adding timing advance, but regardless it was still so retarded and caused my EGTs to skyrocket. In addition the performance was not very good, since I would step on the gas and the car would hesitate for a bit then shoot forward. Get someone to check your EPROM to see if anything is wrong with it first.

I think you may be mistaken. Almost all 95 turbo DSMs came with an EPROM ECU. It is the most common year of the 2g DSMs to have one.

I was not aware of the inverted CAS signal, sorry for the misinformation.

It is the only year 2g ECUs were EPROM. Also, they are definitely more rare, which is why they cost out the ass.

alright so than i guess ill look for a 95-96 ecu. and i heard about a 96 ecu that is "Tunable" its the T series. model MD321911 T what does this mean???

If you do not have plans to do DSMLINK, go with a 98-99 GSX ECU. It's not as expensive as a 95 Eprom ECU but you dont have the limiter and need not to invert CAS/ sparkplug wires.

Many 97 GSX ECUs are flawed, so stay away from them.
