i think its 89-99 blocks are interchangeable with the tranny, but bolt on and direct fit, 95-99 are all interchangeable. only differences are the thrust bearing, cam sensor and firing order

4g63 7 bolt are the same block. 6bolt use different size rods
The 1G 7-bolt block is different than the 2G 7-bolt block.

Any 2G 7-bolt block is directly interchangeable with any other 2G 7-bolt block. There is the difference between the 2GA (95-96) and 2GB (97-99) with regards to the thrust bearing, but that does not prohibit one being a direct replacement for the other.

Later blocks used the split thrust bearing, so the machining in the block where the bearing goes is different. Otherwise they are interchangeable, as far as I know.

Don't forget the motor mount difference between 6 bolt and 7 bolt. I can't recall if the late 1g 7 bolt has the same mount location as the earlier 6 bolt, but it's possible. Later 7 bolts don't have the bosses drilled/tapped for the 6 bolt style engine mount as it is located on the trans

Edit: 97-99 should be directly interchangeable, save thrust bearing differences, as you'd need to use the appropriate one for the motor, but I believe 7 bolts can be converted to whatever thrust bearing ud like to use. But I'm not a Wiseman
