Recently bought a 96 Eclipse GS-T Spyder and I'm fairly new to DSM.
Previous owner said it was recently rebuilt and all it needs is timing, I figure he's not being too honest because of the price I got it for but I'm wanting a project car anyways. now I have the time being off work because of Corona virus.
Anyways rather than doing the timing is there anything I should check for or look at before doing the timing and hoping it's not completely screwed

Drop the oil pan and look for metal shavings/debris in the oil. Check the turbine shaft of the turbo for play. Never just "trust" someone when they say it's "built" and know you may not know much about these cars.
