96 eagle talon awd 5sp steering column replacement questions

alright I've looked everywhere and on the forums and on Google and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I am replacing the steering column in my 96 Eagle Talon 5sp. Went to the junkyard and they directed me towards a 98 eclipse 5sp w\key. Got it back and went to plug it into my car and ran into a problem. I'll post pics tomorrow but.... There are two groups of wires going to steering column, the one group connects fine but the group that connects the windshield wipers and turning signals does not fit. I thought all these parts were interchangeable? Any advice here? I went back and the guy at the junkyard told me to go cut out the connections to the eclipse and see if there are the same number of wires as my talon, well I checked and they aren't the same. I really need this car up and running asap because college starts in about a month.
 
That's the first thought i had too, but there are slight notches in the plastic casing behind the steering wheel that prevent the two from being swapped. LOL again, i thought the two were interchangeable?

Here's the major problem one. The one with more wires belongs to my talon so if I just switch the plastic connectors, I don't know what wires go to what? Any advice here would be great because I can't find any diagrams telling me what they belong to.

No one has ideas to this? I can't find any diagram ANYWHERE explaining what these wires are. At least I can't understand the diagram if I did find it.

So I finally got back to the car and checked everything out, the grey clip in the picture goes to the headlight switch on the left side of the wheel. The switches on either side of the wheel are not interchangeable between the 96 talon and the 98 eclipse. I'll be taking the part back to the junkyard, hopefully i can get my money back =X
 
Just for a reference if anyone comes across this, the wires in the actual connectors were loose. So my buddy and I pulled the wires one by one from the plug going into the column and bent the metal pieces on the end of the wires to make them a tighter fit and it resolved the problem of the car turning off when the words started bouncing around.
