been looking around and not sure what it could be.

So 4 months ago driving oil light comes on and go off non stop. I check oil looks good so I keep going and broke a rod. Let it sit for 2 months and make a deal and trade a car for a motor and labor. Guy puts junk yard motor in but does timing belt, oil pump, head gasket, had cy head checked. So I get it back and one of the lifters is ticking he said if it dont stop he will change it out and fix the small oil leak on the half moon of cy head. Ran fine.

Today I drive to town and when I get back I shut it off for 5 minutes take off and when I hit the gas the oil light flickered. Well I stop, check oil, its fine, so I go ahead and change it. Well 4.5 quarts came out. The oil light still comes on and off so I just parked it and am going to take wifes car tomarrow. I'm sure he will look at it when he gets to it. But I'm just wondering what you guys think. It is no change in how it runs but then again it didnt before it messed up. Could just be oil sending sensor? It's about 18 bucks and would be a easy check. Any other ideas? I don't really feel like driving the wifes car another 3 months.

Also at idle I can rev it and light wont come on

Throw a gauge on the backside of the block and see if you are TRULY having pressure problems, or something else is happening.... : Oil Pressure at 4psi at idle. (engine warm) that's a little scary to me, to think that is all WTF ...but

I was going to but i found one of the wires had been chewed though but still touching. Thanks for the help i did put a gauge on it though
ALWAYS start with the little things, Check to see if it is unplugged or lost connection, test the oil pressure sensor, and harness size. Then move on to bigger things, if you haven't found the problem. Faulty gauge cluster to begin with MAYBE?? :hmm:
