Ok been looking thru all kind of threads about this. Just can't find the right one.

I have a 95 talon that the prievous owner told me he swaped in a non 95 ecu. He said all he changed was the plug wires around. (Not the injector wires)
It runs great.
Now I want to put in a 98 ecu. I know thay don't like the 95 cas. So before I put in the new ecu I'm trying to put in a 1g cas. I got the wiring digram, got it instaled. But no start.
I cant see swapping the plug wires around being the problem. Seeing it's the same ecu. I thought I might have the cas 180 out of time. But that wasn't it. It is trying to fire but not at the right time.

What am I over looking here?

With a 1g car and a 98 ecu you run the plug wires and injector wires normal. You might check to see if the injector wires have been swapped in the ecu pigtail.

Did you mean cas not car?
Even with the 95 wiring?

I'm just trying to get this to run with the ecu it has now before I swap in the 98 ecu. Just to make sure I have this issue covered before the swap.

Yeah, sorry i meant cas. If you are running a 95-96 ecu than you will need to swap the plug wires and injector wires around with the 1g cas. If you are running the 98 ecu than you won't need to change anything. You CAN run the 95-96 style cam sensor with the 98 ecu, but you will need to swap the plug wires. You won't however need to swap the injector wires. You can also just run the 97-99 cam sensor and wire the pigtail into the 95-96 harness.

I thought the 98 ecu don't play well with the 95 cas. At least on the reflashable part anyway.
I have a safe neo wired in also. Could that be causing some problems?

Without swapping the plug wires it won't run with the 95 cas, but it will run just fine if you swap them around. If the neo is wired properly than the car should run fine. It shouldn't really effect anything.

Ok just went out and pulled the ecu. Ran the numbers it's a 97 gst ecu. Put the 98 in did nothing with plug wires still on the 95 cas. Started right up runs fine.
Just wondering if the 95 cas is going to give me problems with a reflash?

Do I have to have a black top cas or will any of the 1g cas work?
I'm thinking I might have a bad cas.
