alright guys. so instead of the 5 speed swap i had originally planned to do. ( i helped a friend convert his eclipse last weekend... shoot me) i actually picked up the fwd turbo auto tranny from a local salvage yard that my friend casey owns. went up there to grab some parts for my cousins truck and i saw 4 talon TSI's just sitting there. 2 had been rolled and the other two had bad motors. i got a tranny with warranty 85k miles for 200 bucks because we bought so much other bs from him. i went to pick the tranny up today and they had the motor from the car that had been rolled ( got my tranny from one of the ones that had been rolled) missing the head of course. the just threw it into a scrap pile. i was like well if you dont want it, why not include it in the deal? got home and tore into the block and actually the bottom end is in really great shape. of course ill need new pistons and what not but i said hey for free why not?!:thumb: something to tear apart and rebuild with better parts for a future swap.

i also got a rear bumber from a 97 eclipse and the eclipse tail lights and harness for 65 bones, figured i couldnt go wrong there.

so as of right now i have the old motor from the car with 165k on the clock on a motor stand. ive replaced my valves and lifters, oil pump, and timing belt. removed all the components off the motor its self. took a wire wheel with a grinder and knocked off all the rust and dirt, and used some super clean to get rid of any access grime left over. motor is now black with red accents, and might i say shes a beauty. ordered my aftermarket headers today and cams.

so i think im going to have the motor and tranny back in the car by the end of the month. eclipse rear end, talon front end, car is going to be a gloss black with a 3 inch drop. full exaughst system and my 16g big turbo and a 1g bov. im thinking of also putting a new head gasket on the motor while its still out of the car so i can up the boost just a tiny bit. maybe run 16-20lbs of boost. license plate idea "widow"

what do you guys think?

I think its cool but a 3in drop is way too much the H&R race springs I have are more than enough I have like barly any wheel gap at all. Also just a headgasket isnt a very good mod to up the boost. You need a upgraded fuel system. Not just the headgasket but while its out you could do a headgasket and some arps.I still have a stock hg running 22psi.But I have a 255pump,1000cc injectors and dsmlink to tune with.

true, ive just always upgraded my hg when i raise boost. what kind of fuel system would you suggest?
