When the engine is cold it idles fine in gear, park or neutral. When it warms up the idle races and makes it very tough to put it in gear. It isn't running rough or misfiring. The idle races from about 900 to 1,000 rpm when it is cold to approximately 2,500 to 3,200 rpm.

Is this a TPS or IAC issue? The throttle cable coming into the throttle body seems a little sloppy after the engine warms.

The car has a 16g boost with a SAFC2 if that helps at all. I can tone down the idle with the SAFC, but then it seems to make the performance of the car too sluggish. Maybe I haven't found the sweet spot yet?

Any insight is much appreciated. Thanks!

boost leak check it, then test the IAC, if the throttle cable feels mooshy try adjusting it, and also the little screw inside the TB could be loose, tighten that down.

The BISSS screw is completely tightened and the problem remains. I messed with the SAFC settings and it is a little better.

I haven't had time lately to do a boost leak test or check the IAC, but I hopefully can fit that in over the weekend. Thanks!

Terry's Talon Troubleshooting Tips #3 - Fast Idle (aka. Idle Surge)

here you go this should help with your idle surge issue.

That sounds similar to what I am experiencing. I will run through it step by step as soon as I can.

Do you have a boost gauge installed and a wideband?Check for boost leaks too like he said.

A boost gauge, yes. I don't know about the wideband or where I would even find it. I have a very basic understanding of what it does. The car doesn't have a catalytic converter, if that matters.
