I just got the car a couple weeks ago and I love the thing. I'm just wondering if the auto awd tsi has some sort of anti rollback thing, because when I go from reverse to drive it slams into drive instantly (unlike every other auto I've driven, where you can be moving backwards in drive). It also won't roll backwards even on very steep Hills.

Is this normal, or did I get screwed at the auction?

Sorry if this has been covered, when I searched it I just got a bunch of "you might be a DSMer" posts.

Both of my Tsis are automatic, and neither roll back on hills. I also had separate issues with shifting problems, and both wound up being tps related. For example, my TSi fwd had extremely hard shifting issues, would jump out of park, and hop severely from r to d. The previous owner had tried to figure it out for four years, and it was simply the tps needing to be adjusted. Of course the front and rear roll stoppers were shot.

Thank you for the fast info. I'll go find out how to adjust it. It does seem like it downshifts a bit hard too.
