95 t-case into 90?

Will a 95 tsi awd t-case fit into my 90 GSx? Stock 90 transmission.

"90 transmissions have 22 spline t-cases...
91+ trannys have 23 spline t-cases..."

If you put the 95 trans AND tcase in your 90 it will work

It there a way to tell if it's a 22 or 23 spline without pulling t-case?

Look on the bellhousing, if that VIN stamped on there matchs your car it's 100% chance a 22 spline. Just put a WTB ad up if you need one.

Also most 22spline cases had an aluminum front case as apposed to a cast iron case on the 91+ t-cases.

From 1989.03.1 Up to 1990.06.1 : P/N MD995573 ... W5M332NPZS ... 22-spline
From 1990.06.2 Up to 1994.02.3 : P/N MD995651 ... W5M332NPXV ... 23-spline

Of course it is still possible that someone has already swapped the output shaft, but this should give you a reasonable idea of what you are dealing with.
