hey DSMtuners alright where should I start?

I'm a newcomer to DSM, im not a noob in CARS, I'm honestly a Honda guy, owned 6 Cb7s(4th gen Honda accord) since i was 16, and right now at age 19 i just bought a 1995 Eclipse GST automatic, i'm new to DSM this is my first Eclipse never worked on one before,

My experiences with cars aren't very low, I built alot of motors swapped Transmissions and Boosted my F22A6 in my 90 Cb7 t3/t4 233 whp which was my 4th cb7, all the rest were n/a....

sorry, i know its an off topic detail and you may think "shut the fuc up i don't care about your life".....

well heres my problem...

my 95 gst starts fine no bogging, no boost/vacuum leak, and no CEL at all!!!....but sometimes out of the blue when i come to a complete stop and decide to accelerate the car won't pass 2000 RPMS its like its choking or redlining/ Rev limiter set at 2*** RPMS, other than that the car runs Smooth shifts nicely no oil leaks no back firing nothing except that problem that come and goes as it pleases.....

now before you guys help me out, 1. I changed the Catalytic Converter thinking it was clogged but did not fixed my problem.

I believe it can be anywhere from an electrical problem like, Knock sensor, o2 sensor, or even my MAF plus FPR, i don't know if the TPS can cause this aswell?....

i haven't checked my plugs and wires because i don't really think its causing the problem nor my Fuel pump....

I don't trust mechanics......never did never will....I always work on my own engines.....

the GST is cOMPLETELY STOCK!

wow?.....nothing should i try somewhere else?...LOLLOL
 
I would start with the basics like checking your Throttle Position Sensor. I had a sensor that would intermittently stop sensing position and it would cause the car to bog. You may also be having ECU issues. All DSMs have problems with the ECU at some point, try another one or get yours rebuilt.
 
Welcome to the community, First thing I will ask is if the Blow off valve is recirculated, As in, A hose going from the bov to the intake pipe,
Next, Do a boost leak test, Make sure there is no leaks.

There are several things that can cause the issue you are having, You may be getting knock, It may be a fuel delivery issue, I could be a coil on the fritz, Or a wire arcing,

Give us some more information, Does it missfire or just sputter?
Also, A list of what has been done to the car will help too.

Try checking the plugs see what they look like. Basic maitenance is must with these cars anyways. Might just need a tune up.
 
Once you do a basic tune up, and boost leak check (wich a lot of times on these cars a boost leak causes many crazy problems) check the throttle cable. Is it smooth in operation, is it to loose or does it get stuck? also check TPS volts, and see if the throttle body is dirty. On the inside, clean it off they tend to get junked up and will cause problems, other wise pics and more description as to how it is operating improperly would help.
 
sorry fellas I broke my camera a month ago but do go into more detail.....

while its in Neutral the car can rev All away to redline at 7k when you put it on drive and take off it changes gears nice and smooth , but sometimes out of the blue it starts choking at 3k rpms.......I checked for boost leak and no leak whats so ever, but Can some one tell me how to read my boost gauge?.....the needle almost hits all the way to the top when i floor it when its acting normal!!!....

Oh! and it may seem weird but i got a CEL and i'm so happy LOL due to the fact that i can now hook up and read the codes.....but one little problem, How in the winnie the poo do you get the codes? what software? OBDII?

one thing that caught my eye when i checked the sensors, the O2 sensor on the down pipe was filthy i reached for it and right away t slipped unplugged as if it was never plugged in the first place took a look inside both plugs male, female are full with grease, also when i unplugged it performance did not change at all it ran like the same before. Could this be the problem i wish i knew if it was because its my first DSM i just don't want it to be my last...I know that when the o2 sensor went out on my accord it bogged like shit and i had to release the gas pedal then easy press and lead the acceleration up just like my GST.....

so I say :D o2 sensor!!!!......

any other suggestions?...

get some electrical parts cleaner and spray the o2 sensor then plug it back in good, make sure it clicks. o2 sensors are funny critters. could be nasty gas. this is going to sound silly, but have you been putting premium in it? (the highest octane you can) like for instance 93 is the highest around here and if you even put midgrade in it, it starts acting funny. soooo... bad gas perhaps?
 
91 oct is what i use...

the first thing i got was the spray cleaner for electrical parts sprayed every sensor....

check engine light came on finelly, how do i check for codes?...wheres the plug i mean?...

i also bought new o2 sensor ass well....
 
I have a 98gst and it would bog out under heavy loads ( full throtle ) it was the plugs. i put in the stock plugs and it got rid of it compleetly. also check your coil packs. they might be going bad
 
Have you actually done a blt? Its a 15 y/o car I would be willing to bet there is atleast one. I fought boost leaks for about amonth til I found all of them. boost leaks cant always be heard while the car is running or by spraying carb cleaner around the engine bay.
 
the MAS? i know when i blow a boost pipe i unplug mine to gimp it home and it wont rev over like 2500 rpms.
