95 eclipse gst build help

So I have a 95 GST it has sorta high miles on it, 147,574 to be exact. Well my goals are to build this engine to 300hp with a 16g turbo kit and I'm clueless on where to begin. The kit I have chosen has everything I would think id need for the turbo part of the build but engine comparability I'm not so sure what I'd need. So if someone can please steer me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it. The picture uploaded is the kit I've selected if it isn't a good selection I can find another.

That kit is a bunch of junk that won't last very long. Look for a real MHI 16g

For the kit I wouldn't get find a real 16g turbo, you can stick with the stock manifold if you want. You would also need to look into getting upgrades to your fuel management, piggy tune, if you want to hit 300hp with stock motor.

Before you do any modding, you need to do ALL the maintenance.
Then follow the upgrade paths found here:

Also, like previously said. Stay away from the turbochargers being sold on Ebay by KO Speed, GodSpeed, CXRacing, etc.
You want a real MHI turbo for your car.

you are going to hear this a ton dut is the maintenance up to snuff? new timing belt? water pump? then free mods, fuel pump rewire, manual boost controller, exhaust, intake filter adapter and a cone filter.

then after that wheelbarrel full of money has been spent and IF you are still willing to keep going down the rabbit hole, start with real mods at that point. VRSF front mount. real MHI turbo, FUEL SYTEM UPGRADES.

Make a list of what parts you plan on buying (use the provided upgrade path list). In order, start with your first mod you want and type "95 gst fuel pump" for example in Google or whatever. There will be 100+ threads for every mod you want. Read each thread and there will be good AND bad things about certain brands, etc. Avoid almost any ebay brand.

Only thing I'd get from ebay is an intercooler. Ebay prices tend to suck people in but half the time the stuff doesn't fit properly and if your lucky and it does it won't last very long. Save a few more bucks and do it the right way. You can obtain your goals for not that much money especially if you source some used parts in the classified section. Cheapest way for you to get 300hp:

16g
190 fuel pump
550cc injectors... With this fuel you won't get the max out of a 16g but also don't need an afpr.
Ebay front mount
Mbc
Stock crushed 1bov
Apexi safc


This will get you around 300hp. Not the best route and leaves no room to grow and dsmlink is way better than the safc but if your ballin on a budget and don't have cash and just want to have some fun that's my opinion.

A 190lph walbro rewired will be what you need for fuel. I'm not sure who or what a 155lph comes from. Ditch the SAFC Idea and get link. You probably already have a socketed ECU. 250hp is a lot cheaper to obtain than 300hp. 300hp and up requires new turbo, injectors, tune and more. If that's what you want though, any MHI 16g can get you 300hp. 550cc injectors will be near maxed at 300hp. Get 650-750cc and be done with it. Generally it is easier to tune with smaller injectors, so don't buy 1200cc.
You have a lot of reading to do. I went to the dyno pages and found a target HP and read what mods everyone had .

Edited my post meant 190 not sure what I was thinkin when I typed it. I absolutely agree with your mod list and that's the right way to do it, just giving him options for the cheapest route because he was looking at ebay kits. And I was under the impression that 95's had EPROM ecu's still think you have to get it socketed.

Haha I always catch heat for my wording on this. It may be a Eprom ECU that is socketable (if that's even a word)

we know what you are saying but...

i have 4 ECUs from 95 cars. 1 or 2 of them from talons. my car is a talon. NONE of them are EPROM ECUs. im considering the black box ECU swap and a 1g CAS.

Thanks for the help on this. I currently have so far a new water pump, oil pump, all new belts, the head has been rebuilt. I haven't got to the pistons/rings ect. like I should've. So I got little more to do before I start modding I guess. The car is going to be street so idk if 300 is to much it was my first choice I came across. I have on order the 190 walbro fuel pump, 550cc injectors, and the boost controller. I have heard it's possible and maybe cheaper to rebuild the stock turbo that's on it and order a intercooler kit. Any opinions on that? I wanna do this right that's for sure once again I really appreciate the help.

If you have the stock turbo its a t-25 which is garbage, so you should at least upgrade to a 14b, they come on 5speed 1g's and you can find them really cheap, t-25 isn't worth spending money on rebuilding

i got a 14b from pj91gsx . he rebuilds and sells new turbos. does good work and good prices. a 16g would have only been a few more $ but i had reasons for using a 14b.

Ii would get a 14b or t28 some 550 /fuelpump dsmlink and a PR fmic..if ya shop around you can get some good deals
