Hi Guys!

I'm a new member on here. This is a long and weird story but I registered on this site in attempts to get some knowledge and help. Ok, here it goes. I own a modded 95 Eclipse GST. It seemed to run well and was ridiculously fast, but it needed work. Here is a list of the mods, that I know of, that are on the car. I'm not a car mechanic so these parts were all on the car when I bought it.

ATI Tranny with Limited Slip

272 Cams

Ingen Intake Tube

Mishimoto Exhaust

Upgraded 16 gauge psi Turbo with different internal wheels

Apex SAFC II Computer

Turbo Booster Computer

Aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator Aeromotive

Front mount inter cooler Apex

Adjustable coils - rust free strut towers!

roadraceengineering.com

Turbo Greddy Blow off Valve

All new adjustable struts

Front End Suspension kit in trunk

Ingen Intercooler with $550 oversized radiator

Now, here is the bad...... the car has been poorly spray painted with black primer and so it needs a paint job. It's terrible looking. When I bought the car, it had no power steering and I was told it needed all new front suspension and motor mounts. Also, the car has push button start but it is hard to start. It takes about 5 or 6 long attempts to finally get it started. And when it starts and the engine is cold, it revs at either 3000 or 3500 rpm, I can't remember which. Also, not listed in the mods is that it has all new fancy gauges on the drivers side pillar by the door, but they aren't hooked up.

I talked to a friend of my brother and he said he could fix the car. I drove it to the mechanic and it drove fine. The mechanic took forever and he finally fixed the power steering, installed all new front suspension, and installed the new motor mounts. But then he drove the car in the middle of nowhere and told me he'd fix the rest later. Then he disappeared and I didn't know where the car was located. So, I found the car but it has been sitting for two years. It was running and driving when the mechanic took it to his sister's house in the country. Now it has flat tires and the car is sunk into the ground. The tires appear dry-rotted and flat.

So, I'm thinking how to get the car back to my house, even though it is so ugly that the neighbors are bound to get upset. Oh well. But the front of the car has the really expensive radiator exposed and other parts exposed and I'm trying to figure out how a tow truck driver is supposed to load and unload the Eclipse onto a flat bed, with no tires and with the car being so low to the ground, I wonder how it can be loaded without damaging the front ground effects, radiator, etc..

A part of me wants to sell the car and just be done with it. The other part of me wants to restore the car, with help from members on here. There are things I could do if people could explain them to me. Other things I would like to hire someone from here that lives close to me (Indiana), and pay that person. I'm just wondering if this is worth doing or not.

I used to race old fox body Mustang 5.0's and so this car is just so different for me. I'm thinking the high revving engine on a cold engine has something to do with the aftermarket computers on the car. It always hi revs at the exact same constant idle and then after about 3-5 minutes, it then immediately idles down to around 700rpm if I am remembering right. I hope that can be changed. I also think the hard starting is either a vacuum line problem, a fuel pump issue, or fuel pressure regulator. But once it starts, it has no fuel problems.

The car has a ton of potential (I feel) but it hasn't been started in two years. I may just need to install a battery and it might start right up. But it also might not. So, I'm asking for advice for all of these problems so that I can rescue this car!

Thanks in advance!

Ted

Any good tow truck driver will be able to get the car loaded with ease. Most will carry an assortment of wood to improvise for clearance. Make sure you let the tow truck company know the car is low and that it has shot tires.

As far as the car goes, that's your call. 2 years is a long time to have your car in somebody else's possession. Did you ever report it stolen?

I would at least have it towed to your house first and assess the cars mechanical condition before jumping to any decisions. As far as the car being worth it or not to restore... that's up to you, financially most cars are never "worth it" but enjoyment and fun? My talon never fails to put a grin on my face :thumb:
