95 Eclipse GS Back Firing and High Rpms

I ran out of gas the other day, so i put gas in it then i started my way down the road and about 20 miles into my trip my car started to Back Fire and jerk while going down the road and the rpms was jumping all around. I put it on the computer and it was telling me that my camshaft sensor needed replaced so i replaced it. I started it up and drove it down the road and it was was running really good until the engine light came on and the car shutoff and now it wont start. Do i need a different sensor for stage two cams than the stock cams? I just rebuilt and modifide the engine only 800 miles ago.

no you don't need a different camshaft sensor for upgraded cams. Whats the new check engine light say? If it doesn't start you are either missing fuel/spark or compression. When you say it wont start do you mean it wont turn over or ?

Well it will turn overand start then the engine light will come on and shut off. it keeps doing that. Would it be something in the computer?

u may have a problem with your crank sensor in the event the computer doesnt receive a signal from the crank sensor it shuts the car down

Quite possibly jumped time.

You will get a cam sensor code if you are out of time. Might as well check it out and see what you got.

Well the computer isnt bringing up any codes. I tried switching out the coil pack and it fired up and ran good for a few minutes then it all of a sudden died again. The timing on it is perfect. Im really thinking it is electrical now, but im not 100% positive though

Well my car is FIXED! It ended up being a bad computer.
