93 tsi ecu into 91 tsi

i have a 91 talon that wont start and i think it might be the ecu...i also have a 93 tsi that runs..could i plug the ecu off the 93 into the 91 to see if itll start

from what i have read all 91-94 are similar its 90 that is different

ok cool ..thanks....i bought the 91 as a parts car ...do you know how hard it is to swap the engine into the 93?

if they are both 2.o turbo motors and awd cars the motors will interchange just fine but if one is a awd and the other is fwd than u will have to change the starter plate and flywheel and the mount brakets on the lower part of the engine

Depends on what the two cars are (IE: awd fwd 2.0 1.8) as far as engine swap goes. With out that info its hard to tell you how easy it would be.

both are awd.....but the 93 is an automatic and the 91 is a stick.....i just want the 93 to be my car to get to work..its blue smoking and burning oil ..so i bought the 91 to swap engines

You will have to get a 6bolt flex plate for a 90-92 1/2 and flex plate bolts. Other than that it should go in with out too much trouble.

Are you sure its the engine and not the turbo??

im not sure really....i havent done a compression or leak down test yet...im hoping its just the turbo but i doubt it

I would do all that before pulling the other engine. One Quick way to tell if the turbo is to pull the inter cooler piping and see if the inside is coated in oil. If so definatly the turbo.

you have to jum the pin 14 and 7 un the ecu harness but just for test the ecu because the tach will not work and both had to be turbo , do you not have replace the ecu capacitors yet?

i havent done anything ..i actually got the car today...it cranks and turns but gets no spark

I would check the lower inter cooler hose. Which car has the no run problem?

the 91 does i bought it today 90,000 miles car has no spark

Try just turning the key on. If the stock boost gauge goes to the zero mark and the check engine light comes on the ecu is working.

91-94 ecus (turbo) dont need any modification to them. I know an automatic turbo car will come with a smaller turbo and injectors so Im pretty sure that will be in the ecu.

90 ecu turbo will work but you have to swap a couple of pins around for it to work right.

Power TR unit is what was wrong on my 90.... Caused a no spark.

Its located in the engine bay by the coil pack. that one in the picture is out of a 94

Try the ECU thing first, then check all fuses under the dash and hood. then try that. then coil pack.
