91 starter in a 93 talon tsi

Starter went out in my brothers 93 talon TSi and he found one on CL for a 91.. are they the same? any help is appreciated.. thanks

Yes, but FWD starters are different than AWD starters.

1g, 2g, Manual, all are the same,,,, Automatic, They are all the same.

Yes, but FWD starters are different than AWD starters.

FWD and AWD Manual Starters are the same, the only different is the Starter Plate.
FWD and AWD Automatic Starter are the same, there is nothing different on both of them.

Any Starter being Automatic, it will fit any automatic, No matter if its a FWD or AWD.
Any Starter being Manual, it will fit any Manual, No matter if its a FWD or AWD.
