Alrite well since I cant actually post in the Ecu/Tuning forum I'm posting here, so I just want to know if there is any actual side effects of running a N/A 91 Eclipse Ecu in a 91 Talon TSI? Thanks

I'm far from an expert, but even if it works at all its probably not a good idea. You need the MD166260 ECU if its Manual Transmission, or the MD165529 if its Auto. My guess is your ECU wouldn't know what to do with all the extra air coming from the turbo and your car would run like crap to say the least.

Well you see the reason I ask is because the ECU in the 91 Tsi is actaully a Eclipse N/A and it has been running with no problem other than the idle rev's up and down when its "cold" but when the temp gauge actually hits the letter "C" it stops reving up and down, but I believe that is just the TPS, any ideas?

If you have a N/T ECU in the car who know what else is also hacked up.

The 2.0L N/A ECU expect that they have 240 cc injectors where a 1g turbo Engine is going to have either 450cc or 390cc injectors. That's a big difference, so if it's been running ok except for idle surge I have to wonder is it because the car also has a N/A engine or because the ECU board doesn't match the case and is really something else.

ok so let me give you the full story.....bought the car 500$ 91 Talon Tsi, it didnt start, ended up being the ECU burnt up, went to the local junk yard and grabbed a 91 N/A Eclipse ECU, stuck it in the Talon and it started, the only problem was the idle, the factory boost gauge doesnt work and it spits grey smoke once in awhile when its first started and reved hard in neutural.

So get a turbo ECU for that car. That's the first step. I've run N/A ECUs in my car for testing and I know how badly they run without dialing in corrections. I'd never consider driving the car with one.

Since you say that the original one "burned" up you need to make sure that the ISC coils are not shorted before putting a good ECU in.

thats the plan as of right now but ecu's arent cheap 500+ for a new one.....but other than that what do you think is causing the idle to be so rough until it warms up? and also iso coils where do i find these and test them?
