93 n/a want to put a turbo but have some ?'s

well to start i have a 1993 eagle talon es 5 speed but i want more power i want to go turbo. the thing is that im kinda limited with money and but have prety much all the tools to do it with on my own but i need to know what are all the parts i need to get it goin like i know the monifold turbo oil lines n what not and maybe what is the easies thing to do besides buyin a turbo dsm because i really cant do that right now but what is the easiest way to get boosted shoud i peice it together on my own or maybe buy a kit but idk thats all ive been thinkin bout but i want more advice ya know just to be safe and not waste money but if u could maybe answer a question or two of mine that would be appreciated :talon:
 
Have you done it, budda, or even read the How-to's? Mavisky says it isn't that hard, and it doesn't look very difficult in the how-to.
 
No, I haven't do it. Just the fact that the turbo models have... aggressiver timing maps, knock sensor, bigger injectors, blah blah..

Its all just a big headache. To run the knock sensor, you're going to have to drill the block or get a 4g63 block...

I'm just trying to give advice. VFAQ has a how-to turbo your NA. In the end, all the money and time spent on the NA could of been done to the 1g.

If he really wants to, do it. I'm not stopping him, I just want to let him know it isn't going to be easy.

That isn't going to help him with the timing maps of the car. Repining the ECU isn't going to make his timing maps like the turbo ones. It isn't going to let the ECU know he has bigger injectors.

I was reading somewhere that non turbo ECU's can be chipped like an Eprom, but like I said, its more of a hassle. What about when you are switching injector sizing?

The safc can only go up to +50/-50 correction and 550cc's are already out the ball park.
 
You should really at least LOOK at the how-to before telling people it is not worth it.

"get a 4g63 block"? "buy a dsm"? "could have been done to the 1g"? WTF You could read up about DSM's a bit, while you're at it.

I just finished the conversion. If you have a semi good mechanical sense, and like you said you have the tools to do it, it really isn't all that hard. Mine was a bit pricey only because I went with all new name brand parts. But if you find them used or non name brand it could be fairly cheap to do it. The only headaches I had with mine was my intercooler piping didn't fit all that great and I kept blowing couplers under boost. Other than that it was time consuming, but pretty much bolt on easy! If you have any more question just ask man. hope that helps and good luck! :thumb:
 
hey guys thanks for all of ## help but yeah i have considered sellin and just buyin a new one that is turbo and also just buyin a turbo engine but sellin the car idk bout ### i owe about 980 on the car still and the way it is i dont think i could get 2 out of it maybe 16 if im lucky but then if i do that i ow the lot the 980 and then im shot more less on money but yeah ive considered all of the above more less but there is a guy near me that has a dsm farm he has nothing but dsm's n what not n i was gonna go there sometime n see what he got to set me up n get me rollin as in turbo set ups n shit but i asked my brother in law n he knows alot about the stuff n he was talkin about havin to change the cams maybe n timing n shit n it makes sense but idk ### right now the car sits with a ####ed tranny n im gonna get it fixed today with my dad but i was maybe thinkin if i just keep the car maybe do a lil bit of mods like the cams n what not just lil things to maybe get the price outa it that id want if i can pay it off n then sell it to get the turbo one

idk but just wonderin what everyone thinks would be the best thing to do if not if ne one has something cheap they would sell like the stock kit or sum ### i just want a lil more power ya know to feel the boost n get some money n what not but yeah thanks to everyone for the help
 
well its ok i through the car on the lift and found a gapin hole on the side of the trans so im gettin rid of it n not pay the rest off soo yeah thanks for everyones help n advice
