Ok I have a 93 Laser, N/T, it has Comp Racing cams, The Idle is messed up, I asked a mechanic and he said id have to turn the cam pulleys back 1 tooth,

It will idle low almost about to stall,

When u get into second gear and try to accelerate the car backfires and jerks

I tried adjusting the distributor, that helped a little but then it did it again,

the car also has idle surges, it can idle good for a second, but if u give it a little gas it will shoot up to 4 grand, and hold there for a second then go down

I asked a mechanic and he said id have to turn the cam pulleys back 1 tooth,

they are non adjustable pulleys BTW

So can someone help me please

Your profile looks like it's for a V8, so which version of the N/T do you have here since the 2.0L 4G63 doesn't have a distributor and the 1.8L 4G37 does.

It makes a big difference.

Its the 2.0, I Guess its not a distributor than, Whats the thing on the left side of the head then? Thats what i was moving

That would be your cam sensor. You can loosen the bolts and adjust the cam sensor to see if that will help the stalling issue.:laser:

When you adjust the cam sensor. You need to ground the timing adjustment terminal pin. Then adjust the timing to 5* BTDC by turning the cam sensor and when the timing adjustment pin is not grounded I believe the timing should be 8*. To do all this ya need a jumper wire with aligator clips, timing light, and a 12mm socket. And of course clip the timing light to Cylinder #1.
