What's going in everyone. I just recently picked up my newest dsm. 92 Tsi talon awd turbo 6 bolt. Bone stock with 60k Original miles! I'm doing the t belt water pump and all the idlers and tensioners balance shaft belt ect. My question is where do I start my mods and where to get them. I plan on keeping the stock 14b for now and eventually going up from there.
So far I'm thinking intake and k&n cone. Question is what one should I get and will I need to replace ic piping now or later.
Next is gauges boost,afr (for the future with bigger mods) oil pressure any suggestions on that. And then I really don't know exactly where to go from there.

DSMLink is a must, since you said you'll be doing future mods, as far as a Air/Fuel gauge, i'd say get the Innovate LC-1 wideband

I agree but this also means you need to look at the ecu in your car. If it's not an eeprom add that to the list for Link.

Pick a goal for the car so that you know what to buy the first time. Future proof yourself as much as possible. IE: if you get an eeprom and either Link or a custom flashed chip, buy fuel injectors that would be OK for your highest hp expectations (700-800 range is probably good for most.) They will still work well with a stock car.

Only worry about your IC lpiping if it looks bad. My original rubber hose still looks usable. For driving pleasure I would leave the smic in there untill you get a larger turbo. I definitely lost some spooling time when I put my long route fmic in.
 
dsmlink. Best 1st upgrade. Why? You get to practice tuning at lower power levels and really get to know how the software works right from the get go. So when youre 2yrs down the road, running SD, a 62+mm turbo and a fully built top/bottom you will be able to do things much better and safer tuning-wise. you can take a 7k engine and toast it during break in with a bad tune. Familiarize yourself early and it will pay dividends in the long run.

Either pull the radio or pull the carpet on the passenger side..Its 4 bolts then its out.You might actually have to pull both if its never been out before.
 
Yeah I don't believe it's ever been out before. Had to pull it in my last dsm! Ok thanks for the help! Yeah it would probally be a good thing to get used to dsm link
 
Ok this may be a very old or tired question but what turbo is the best as far as 16G goes? I don't want to sound stupid but it looks like the 16G is just a milled out version of my 14b.. I also here about 16G and Big 16g and even the evoIII 16G... so is there a definite undisputed winner amoung these turbos or is it just personal preference and is there a difference in 16G and an evoIII 16G?
 
I am currently running a evo 3 on 22psi on built motor. Pulls great and decent power even though im street tuned right now on link 3. Upgrading to a hx40 over winter. Im also on e85
 
^^^ Thats a question with many many variables. Fuel, cams, head porting, meth, exhaust, fmic quality etc etc..... I think 350-375whp wont kill it too fast but ive never owned one. Ive seen the numbers people put up with them. Theyre all over. You can make near 500 i think if you go crazy and have a perfect setup.
 
Good. That's kind of exactly the new I was looking for.. I just wanted to know the capabilities of that turbo. Now when I start to mod her up a little I can get her to do what she already does but even better. . Kick butt and take names.. thanks for the info very helpful and im going with that turbo soon.. one more ? If mine supposedly has the stock 14b on it then how the hell did I literally smoke a supra turbo a few years ago.. I mean I just pulled away like it was easy. It wasn't a 2jz supra but it was the same body style as the later supras with that motor
