For the past 4-5 months, my talon has has a major squeeking problem. When I start up the car, occasionally it squeeks from under the hood pretty loudly (like a belt). It almost always squeeks when I turn my headlights on (draining power perhaps), which makes driving at night a major PITA. If I put the car in neutral and rev for about 2-3 minutes at 4k rpm, the car squeeking stops and will not return until the next day (usually). Lately I cant press the brakes or the squeeking will not go away, so I need to use the e brake to keep from rolling while revving.

Basically, as far as I can tell, this is fully voltage/power related. Anybody ever had this happen while an alternator was dying or anything. I'm getting ready to sell the car, so I want it to be in good running order. Thanks in advance:thumb:

I highly doubt it's voltage/power related. I had the same problem on my celica alltrac. There is probably a lot of built up in your idler sprocket (pulley) or another sprocket. Take it out and clean it with gasoline or whatever, that should fix the problem. If it doesn't, buy a new sprocket.

I would also look closely at the crank pulley If it doesn't look right, replace it. I've been seeing a lot of issues with them lately. My personal vehicle included.

Replace any belt you are not sure of with a quality belt and set the tension. In a few days you will have to re-tension to take up any slack due to stretch.
