Hey guys. I have a 92 gsx that refuses to start for me. It cranks over no prob but will not fire. For awhile it would take forever to start but eventually it would. So the last time it took awhile but i was able to start it, i had to jump it. So i left it run awhile and this was just after i replaced the alternator. Now while the car ran for a good 10 mins i tried to move it and it stalled off and now wont restart. Turns out the battery was shot so i got a new one. Now itll crank but not fire. I pulled out the fuel rail and its definately getting gas. I pulled out all the spark plugs at once and had my gf crank it over. From watching them i saw no spark out of any of them and i had just put in new plugs and wires a few months ago. What do you think my cars issue is? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like if you have no spark (check all plugs) you have a bad coil or ignition module. I believe there maybe a fuse to check aswell.

Yeah, i currently have all the plugs removed and they are laying on the valve cover plugged into their respective wires. I had my girl crank the car over while i watched them and none of them sparked at all. So if you think its a fuse which are the ones i would need to look at that would affect the ignition? Im kinda not thinking its a fuse because the car had trouble starting for a long time now and now it seems like whatever was barely working just gave up...

Try grounding a plug on a bolt and try cranking again. they have to be grounded to spark. Also have you done a compression test on it?

Ok ill check that fuse and also try gounding the plugs... But as far as a compression test i havent ever done one or know how too... It doesnt have anything to do with it starting does it?

You just need a compression gauge and crank the car over to see the compression. You have to do it for every cylinder

Compression test could be crucial due to the fact that if the motor is too far worn out it probably will not crank.

In my case it turned out to be my coolent temp. sensor same symptoms as yours would just crank and crank but no start replaced the sensor and no issues now. its a cheap part think it was $20 bucks at autozone

Bad coolant temp will still start just takes alot to get it there. Bad compression is possible but it would usually still pop on at least 1 cylinder. You deffinatly need to ground the plugs and verify the spark is not there on all cylinders. If it didn't park on 1 and 4 or 2 and 3 and does on the opposite pair its a coil. If it doesn't spark on any its the fuse or module.

Don't just throw money and parts at it. Get as much information together as possible.
The car needs four basic things to start: fuel, spark, compression, and proper timing.

So, check for spark using the information the others have provided you. If you have spark, check to see that the engine is getting fuel (which apparently it is).
It wouldn't hurt to do a compression test as well. It is very straightforward and easy.
A compression test kit can be had for $20-$40 at Harbour Freight or any auto parts store. The kit contains a hose, the fittings, so you can screw the hose into the spark plug holes, and a gauge, which will show you the compression numbers.
Once you're ready, there are step by step instructions all over the net for how to do a compression test.

Keep us informed as to what happens next.

Ok guys, I finally got a chance to try everything amd got absolutely nowhere. First off I tried grounding all parts of fhe exposed plugs one at a time, then all at once.... Everytime it was cranked over there was still no spark at all... Is there a better way to check them? Also I looked for that fuse on the passengers side of the motor and I have no 20A fuse. Heres a pic of what my fuse box cover is if this helps.

I really need to get my car on the road soon so any help would be amazing. Thanks so much for all the help so far!
