I think its fuel flow!

I pulled my lifters on my 91 talon Tsi because of bad lifter tick. a TERRIBLE ONE!:beatentodeath: :beatentodeath: so i went to put the car back together and i get it together and goto start it battery was dead. swapped it out with another batter of same caliber and tried to crank it over. nothing forever. I sat there and cranked the car off and on for an hour trying to find a problem. I would crank it then go try something. then do it again. still would not fire up. the crank spins but nothing else.

The fuel pump has a rewire kit on it. stock injectors, stock fpr,no emmissions, no cat, ect ect. I dont know how to fix it. Yes there is gas in the car. LOLROFL

I have spark. i pulled them put the plugs in the wires and checked them all while having someone crank the car. I also know theres spark because Im stupid and shocked the piss outta myself because I held onto them the first time. LOL :beatentodeath: :beatentodeath:

Any help is appreciated guys! Thanks...Sorry for the length as well.

If you think the problem is fuel that test that idea by spraying some starting fluid into the intake and see if the engine fires.

What fuel pressure are you seeing?
Do you hear the injectors tick when cranking or if you pull the CAS and turn it.
Have you tested the fuel pump with a datalogger?

Steve

i dont have a fpr or gauge. if i pulled the CAS wouldnt something bad happen? no i have not tested it with a logger because i dont have the the software on my palm and my palm wont sync to my comp. i have a new cable on order.

to answer the other question my valves arent bent. its in time.

Did you reinstall the same lifters or replace with new. If it is the old lifters, did you bleed them down before reinstalling? If not, the valves are not closing because the lifters are pumped up. Thus, creating no compression and possibly bending valves.

^^^^ damn straight.. you gotta bleed the before you put them in.. the wont compress right and bam! your car has herpes and bent valves

i believe they are blead. i have to pull the valve cover again anyways ### my dad is a retard and cranked it down to hard and put a HUGE crack it. and it leaks like a bi***. but ill re-bleed them think i only blead a few. but heres the deal.
pull the fuel line going to the rail inbetween the regulator and the rail. and there is no fuel going through the line. i have to check my pump next but dont know how. its fwd. any ideas?

Disconnect fuel line from pass side of fuel rail and insert into fuel safe container. Locate the fuel pump test terminal and supply 12 volts to it. See if it pumps fuel. If not, listen to see if you can hear the pump running.

The fuel pump test terminal is a female flat spade conector located on the passenger side behind the battery. It looks similar to the connector that is on the closed throttle switch on the tb.

Did you check the fuse in the fuel pump rewire?

yessir... check ALL fuses and relays.. you actually should be able to put your hand between the back seats and feel a slight vibration for about 2 seconds as you turn the key from on to off... or just do like homeboy said and jump 12 volts to it and listen... that will narrow it down a bit

ok. heres whats up now. i checked all fuses. fuses are cool. i replaced the relay to the rewire and its fine now. BUT...there is still the same rattle in the head region as before i pulled the lifters. I dont understand at all. the cams are in time. and so is the rest of the motor. i am at a complete loss. i have NO idea at all! i wanna scrap the car so bad. i dont want to pull the head again. i odnt have the time or money to do that.

Can you post a video of the sound?

Stock cams ? How many miles ? They could have worn lobes on the cams or flat spots . Happened in my 90 . New head , lifters , still made a ticking/slapping sound . Got a set of BC 272 , no more noise .

ill try to post a video but im not too sure how it will be since it will be off my camera phone. but ill try. it sounds terrible
i dont even like to kick it over. the rattle was gone while it was trying to crank without fuel then it appeared when i tried to crank it over with fuel. how weird is that. what are Bc 272's?

BC272 are camshafts . Miles ? Stock cams in car ?

i know they are cams but are they stock degrees? stock ect ect ect? the noise started all of a sudden so i pulled the lifters. and bam still doing it. Im going to buy 3g lifters and see if that works. if not...im done with it. the car has 174k on it.
