i recently bought a 91 eagle talon tsi awd turbo, i had to put a new tcu and transmission in it.. ITs and AUTOMATIC ..........

Its currently running about 7 psi on a 13b

How should i go about getting 14 psi out of this car.. ????

what can i run with the stock 390's ?
will the auto ecu work with 450's ?

any other tips or advise to provide more perfomance would be greatly appericated.

" NOT INSTALLED "
what i have " ssac tubular manifold mounted to a 14b turbo with a ported oem 02 housing and 2.5 - 3" downpipe, dsm 450cc injectors " spray caps missing" and i have a 5 speed ecu.

The ecu is only for shifting, it has no control over the gas and air mixture my friend. Go and put some 450s in it, put a 14b or 16g turbo and increase your boost. That car can be crazy fast. But do this all properly and correct, get a boost gauge, a logger, and make sure the car is running properly first.

^^ why do you have a 5 speed ecu? The car is only a 4........So get the right ECU and the right TCU

It has a 5 speed ECU to match the injectors that came out of a 5 speed car.

The ECU controls the engine, the TCU controls the shifting.

^^Ha yes i no that, i typed ecu by accident. Trust me im well aware of the TCU and its function. I have a custom triptronic box that acts as a stand alone unit that bypasses my tcu.

Best bet is either maft translator or safc. Either way just get something to tune if you want to put in the 450s. Second, you can run more boost on the 13b, but it comes to a point of efficiency and that turbo is almost at its limits already at like 11-12. Put the 14b on, put in teh 450s, get a safc (like stated above), dial in the tune and turn up the boost n call it a day. But you can run much more that 14.... i can 19psi on my 14b. Just dont go and crank up the boost though....

okay im a little confused, if the " auto ecu " can handle the 450's and all i want to run is 14 psi " stock for the 5 speed's" then why would i need a maft translator or a safc ???

i only mentioned the 5 speed ecu because i thought since the auto's run about 7psi stock and the 5 speed's run 14 psi stock i thought the fuel maps would be different.

basically i wanted to know i can throw on the 450's and the 14b without anyother modifications to achieve the 14psi im looking for ..

thanks for the info guys

Nah, the guy above is confused.

The autos and manuals both run about 14 PSI stock. If you're only seeing 7 then someone either removed the BCS or you have a boost leak or something.

The only difference between the ECUs is the fuel mapping and a little bit of coding for the park/neutral switch which isn't a big deal. The auto ECU is mapped for 390cc injectors at a base fuel pressure of 43 PSI. The 5 speed ECU is mapped for 450cc injectors at 37 PSI base fuel pressure. The easiest thing to do if you want to take advantage of the 450s is to pop in the 5 speed ECU, 450s, and a FPR off of the Manual car. Then you'll have the fuel system and ECU that match. The 5 speed ECU is better to have if you plan on modding anyways because you can run larger injectors with an AFC if you decide to go that route, vs what the auto ECU would be able to handle.

Custom shiftronic setup? You mean like I did 3 years ago?

Or do you mean you went to a website and clicked "buy it now" on a pre-manufactured pushbutton box ;)

well i was just guessing that it was about 7 lbs of boost going from the stock boost gauge its gets to the 7 and peaks just above it. my Boost Control Solenoid is still firmly attached to the air box, weather or not its function properly is another story. But I'm pretty sure the waste gate on the 13b is supposed to be set to somewhere between 7-10 psi stock but on the 14b the waste gate is 10-14 psi and varies depending on the individual turbo..

im not new to dsm's i acutally own 3 and have owend 4 but this is my first automatic and it perriels in comperison to the 5 speeds.

the 14b waste gate also will not work on a 13b ive looked, but i was wondering if the boost control solenoid from a 5 speed is different the on an auto dsm... Anyone know ?

the boost control solenoid is the same.

The 14B has a 8ish PSI gate spring pressure by default. The BCS is what bumps it up to the factory 12-13 PSI boost level.

Not sure about a 13b, but the 13G that comes stock on the auto cars runs the same factory boost (again using the BCS) as the 14B.
