Abbotsford,
Heya, I have a '91 Laser, 2.0L N/T Auto.

I have a HIGH idle! It's at about 2100RPM. When it's in gear it's about 1000RPM. Still a bit high. These things are supposed to idle at about 800 aren't they? So I'm at least double the idle speed!!! :) I checked for the ovbious, vaccum leaks, but I don't see any broken hoses, and there doesn't seem to be any leaks at the manifold (did the propane torch method). Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, and there doesn't seem to be any reason for it, I didn't do a damn thing under the hood!!!

Thanks!

James

Look at vfaq.com for some ideas, it may be the ISC, or the BISS screw is out of adjustment, both are defined on the site. But if you don't have idle surge, it might be a vacuum leak, just you didn't find it, but try the simple first, i still have idle surge, i'm starting to re-due some stuff now.

It's kinda wierd, it wasn't doing it for most of today, but then when I ran to the store it started again! So I don't think it's a vacuum leak, cause it should always be there! :) My though was possibly the ISC.... Anything else I should look at, I've check the vfaq, and it hasn't told me much. I only have sunday to look at it, so I am gonna spend all day it I have to. Might as well give it a good tune up while I am at it.

Thanks!

My car idles at 900rpm, and i get a CEL when my MAFS is not plugged in  Unplug your ISC, before you start the car, if the problem goes away, its your ISC, if you still have surge, your ISC is good.
