So i picked up a 91 gsx from a guy that had the head tore off it when i got it. So i pulled the motor the rest of the way out and went through it by honing it and putting in new rod bearing and rings. Got it all back together and found that its very hard to get it started. Once it is running i took it out and if you try to lean into the boost its like its hitting fuel cut. and if you just stay out of the boost and light throttle it wont rev past 3500. At the time i found out the the cam angle sensor was 180 degrees off so i turned it around right by lining up the dowel on the cam gear straight up and setting the mark on the cas to the front with the notch in cas housing. And its doint the exact same thing. So would this be that the cas is bad. After ir runs for a bit and dies it is impossible to get it fired back up, so i have to let it sit for like an hour or so and then its just hard to get fired back up again but it fires. What else would cause this?

Oh and all it has done to it ARP head studs, egr blockoff, and eliminated balance shafts. also tried another MAF and get the same results. Also this is the exact same problem the guy before me had with it as well.

Ok so i just checked my primary and secondary resistance at the coil pack. the primary came out at 1.1 and 1.3 ohms. spec is supposed to be .77-.86. and the secondary was 12.9 and 12.8k. so thats within spec. so could this be causing the car to run like this. and when it heats up theres more risistance. Also i just rebuilt the motor and upon doin my compression test found that 1 and 4 are at 120 and 2 and 3 are at 90. so since the coil pack controls 1-4 and 2-3, that would indicate that 2-3 are not firing correctly right? I also replaced the cas with a working one. When i pulled the plug wire and put in a spark plug and grounded it and turned it over, there was spark but to me looked very weak.

OK so i pulled the coil pak and transistor from a running car and put them in, have a different set of plug wires and plugs in and still getting the same results. The guy i got it from said that he tried an eprom ecu out of a 92 but i was told that the eprom would run in a 91 unless it was chipped, is that true. i pulled the fuel filter and pump out tryin to pick up different ones. the only thing thats left thats electrical is the ISC. Could it be that maybe the FPR is stuck open and not allowing fuel pressure to build? im at wits end right now.

i have also been at my wit ends with both of my dsms. 90 awd tsi and 95 gst with 6 bolt. First of you have weak compression indicating the hard start. It would not be your CAS because your ecu is firing all 3 items fuel pump, injectors and also transistor. Good luck battling the demons because I am battling 2 at the same time.

Ok so i got a workin pump out of a 2g, fuel filter, and another fpr. And just in case another 91 tsi ecu. can anyone confirm that a 92 eprom cant work in a 91 unless its chipped. thats what Andre at Pina told the guy that i sold my 92 eprom to. So all i have left to try if this doesnt work is injectors and ISC. Why would a fuel problem arise when it warmed up. i mean obivously there is a problem, but it absoultly will not start after its been running for any length of time. and the temp sensor for the ecu is working and new. it reads on the logger. On the logger everythings fine and normal and no CEL's. Anyone else? im lost here.

It sounds like your rings didnt seat in the compression test you've done. 90 is kinda low. The 1,4 seem fine but 2,3 probably didnt seat. They should all be close to the same all the way across. Try putting a little bit of oil. I mean a "little bit" (about a cap full) in the plug holes, and see if that raises your compression any? Other than that, are you getting any knock, because the knock sensor could be shutting the car off? I'm also fighting something myself. I dont think people look in the newbie section to help us out...:notgood:

So it runs now. I replaced the pump, filter and fuel pressure regulator. it started and ran very well considering it was on honda plugs and wires. got back and it wouldnt start back up though. so i went to pull the honda plugs and one broke and put porcelian all down inside the plugchamber. and i got most of it out but some wouldnt come out and fell down inside the cylinder. so at least i figure out the running part of it. it was fuel related.
