I have a 1991 Eclipse GST with an automatic transmission that will not shift. It has 141000 miles, but the trans was rebuilt 20k-40k miles ago. The car sat in the drive for several years and we got running again. We replaced the dead stock 13b turbo with a new 14b found on the manual trans models. In that time, the trans seemed fine and the car smoked.
We had the head replaced and since we got it back, it will not shift gears. The car seems to start in 2nd gear or higher. The car also shakes a good deal with it is shifted into reverse and there is also a very noticable vibration when it is drive. What could be the problem, hopefully after all we've done and spent is something easier to fix than a trans rebuild.

you could have cleaned it with gumout, then if it was still bad then replace cuz mostly they jus need cleaning to get carbon and other filth off of them.
. i have to drive up into ohio now cuz the one where i live went outta buisness or somethin. to tell ya the truth, the people ive talked to there don't know much about these cars or somethin... well at least at this one...
