a little over a week ago, the 2-3 shift started flaring up. per what ive read from dsmtalk and here on dsmtuners, i had a shop change the fluid and filter (i had to take it in to have them replace the dr side halfshaft so just had them do the filter and fluid change)

since getting the car back from the shop, the car still had the 2-3 flare up.. sort of.
i say sort of, because when the flare-up seemed to go away, a new problem seems to have taken its place:
when coming to a stop, it downshifts into 1st.. i know its not supposed to do this, its supposed to stay in 2nd. not only that, but when doing the 1-2 shift, its more like a 1-2-1-2 shift.. yeah, it downshifts back into first for a second.

ive checked the fluid. the level is fine, the color is fine, and it smells just like it should.

any thoughts?

wow. ok. this has me kinda stumped.. (but im thinkin it may be the TCU..)

what i described above, was what it started to do last night, and then on my way to school this morning (about a 50 minute drive)

well, after school, it didnt downshift into 1st once when coming to a stop. while thats a good thing, it still did the 1-2-1-2 "stutter" as ill call it.. and noticed the 3-4(od) shift is quite firm (much firmer than its ever been)
ok. then about halfway home.. the 1-2 shift was working just fine as well as the others! the 2-3 flare up seems to be gone..
it also seems to shift into 3rd quite early now..

ugh. what a pain in the butt. LOL. anyways.. ideas?

im kinda wondering if its the TCU, due to the symptoms changing.. but i dunno for certain. i havent tried to pull any codes from the TCU yet (dont have the tools with me or i would have.. also not sure if the check engine light has to be on for there to be a tcu code or not)

CEL only comes on for critical codes. So yeah run a diagnostic at your local car part store. Auto zone and such.
