So I just bought a 1991 Eagle Talon base model fwd automatic. It has been in storage a minimum of 8 years. Had a new key made, new battery and she fired right up. Here's where it goes down hill.
Go to shift it into gear and it sounds like metal discs slipping on each other. Does this in all gears and reverse. Park and neutral no noise. Try to shift from drive to park and it sounds like when you are still moving and slam it in park (clicking until you stop). Sound like a transfer case issue? Or could it be a problem from sitting for so long?

No transfer case on a FWD model. Sounds like the trans is needing new clutches and steels. Not a job for the weary, but doable.
It is full of fluid, right?

Fluid looks almost overfilled. What's a decent rebuild kit to use?
I have about $650 into this car as it is. Debating on selling for what I have in it or rebuild tranny.

$500-$600 for the hard parts/clutches/steels/gaskets. Labor it what gets the prices up. If you can follow a manual TO THE TEE, then it can be rebuilt for the cost of a rebuild kit and you do all of the cleaning, checking for problems, and re-assembly. A performance rebuild will run about $2500 from a reputable shop and most are backed up currently.

Thanks for the info, can you recommend a place to buy the rebuild kit from?

OregonPerformanceTransmission
or
IPT
are 2 that come to mind quickly.
I used the IPT kit but my rebuilder sent home a bunch of parts that he didn't need.
Just click on the highlighted names for the links.

So I played with the car a little more today.
When I put it in gear the speedometer goes up to about 10 mph at idle, I give it gas and the speedometer goes up with the RPM. I'm thinking it's in the transaxle part of the tranny. Are there parts or replacements for these?

Non-Turbo car?

Correct non-turbo.
I believe I just found the problem since I got time to work on it
Put it on jack stands, left and right wheels will spin opposite direction by hand. Started it while on jack stands, tires turned. Put in neutral then back in gear no more turning. Climbed under while running, driver side axle spinning but wheel is not. So I'm guessing it's a limited slip transaxle? And the driver side shaft is shot.
Sorry I'm no FWD mechanic so this is just coming foreign to me. So know gotta try to remove the driver side axle.

Ok so pulled off front driver side and the shaft came out of the CV joint where it goes into the wheel.
