Just curious to whether anyone has accomplished this or not. I know if i switch pins 6 and 14 it will clear up most probs. but not sure it will cure all. Thanks.

I'm doing it, no switched pins. Thats for the ECM swap, if its an eprom switch there's no need.

My tach didnt work after install in a 93 eprom ecu, I ended up swapping in/rewiring some 93' coils.

good luck with that, it wont work.... you have to swap the wires, eprom or not.

You misread me. I'm doing it, as in, im running a 91 in a 90. Works like a charm, dont need luck.

If your tach is working without swapping wires harness and coil, I suspect you have a 90 board in a 91 casing.

1990 eagle talon TSI, 1990 ECU (original none of the bolts had been turned before me). E931 Eprom. Stock harness configuration.

I thought you said it was a 91 eprom ecu?

To clearify further. The topic states "91 EPROM in 90 car" unless the original poster meant 91 Eprom Ecu in a 90 car, but I'm assuming just the Eprom as it was stated.

I dont. If you have a 90 Eprom ecu, a 91 Eprom is a good mod. Either way this post is just argueing for arguements sake and a mater of semantics now.

If you want a 91 eprom in a 90 eprom ecu, no wire swap.

If you want a 91+ ecu in a 90, wire swap.

I think everyone agrees?

Rediculous.
Well documented problem. Not that it flat out doesn't work but that it flat out doesn't work correctly.

You are correct that you can run the E931 code in the '90 ECU's. That's what most of us base new code on. I usually change the ECU version ID back to the '90 ID just in case the dealer uses a MUT on it so they don't get confused. :)

I realize its well documented. I realize whats needed to make the ecm, and/or, code to work in a 90. Its "rediculous" that it degenerated so quickly to a case of a semantic scufuffle when it was obvious the question was answered in both cases of what the original poster may have been asking.

You got personal when you realized you misunderstood the original poster's intended question. Read the thread again, he wanted to know if he can put a 91 eprom ecu into his 90 by just swaping pin 6 and 14. Your final answer to his question was
If you want a 91+ ecu in a 90, wire swap.
which you now clearly see was wrong. My posts were not intended to be little you in any way, it was to provide the original poster the accurate answer so he doesn't try it and find out later that he needs 91-94 power transistor, coil, harness and the gauge cluster to go with it as someone else had pointed it out very early in the thread. I apologized if you took it as a personal attack. It's ok to be wrong, we all been there. :)
