91 dsm turbo problem shooting

I have an issue with my 91 FWD laser turbo. The car seems to be stuck in gear, it does not shit properly. The OD does not make the RPMs drop like it should. I have to keep on the gas on the highway to keep it moving. The RPMs sit at about 4000 going about 60. then when I press the gas more, the Car gets to about 5000 RPMs going 70. Does anyone know what this issue could be?

im guessing you have an auto? it could be stuck in transmission limp mode. basically its stuck in 3rd gear. If you have problems accelerating it would also point to a limp mode problem.

if it is limp mode, youll need to replace the TCU (transmission control unit) or fix it (most likely blown capacitors). More info on your situation would be nice.
