90 Talon with neon coil pack?

I Just bought a 90 talon. This is my 2nd dsm that ive owned and i would like to say that i know a decent amount about these cars but no one can know everything. Well the previous owner hooked up a dodge neon coil pack on it? and said it has a 95 ecm, No TPS and was programed out or something like that. So my quesion is why would he do that and should i put everything back to the way its suppose to be. It does have a evo 16g and 750cc injectors. Apex air fuel controller. It also has a 2g maf wired into the stock 1g maf harness

hmmm... Well, do you have a picture of the coil pack? The neon's looks like like this:

I really don't know what the purpose would be for that...

As for not having a TPS; I don't see how you could program that out? Maybe he meant something else.

For once, i really dont know what to say here other than that guy needs kicked really hard in a sensitive region, and what he did sounds absolutely obsurd....

either way, find out the ECU, look and get a part number off and see if it has 3 or 4 plugs. 4 plugs is 2g, 3 is 1g. For it to even be a 2g he would have had to swap the whole harness which sounds insane, and you cannot eliminate a TPS no matter what haha. Sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen to be honest. But look into the few things i mentioned and check back in.

Yea it looks exactly like the on in the picture, There is no tps at all on the car . I have no clue how it even runs decent. It deoes have 3 plugs so just another thing the guy had no clue about. the number on the side is 6260.The Numbers on top is md166260 But that one has a mark through it then someone wrote md165810 I checked vfaq and the one is from a 90-92 Turbo Fwd and the other is from a 90-94 Gvr4. Is there a difference between the ecm's? For Fwd and AWD. It is a EPROM tho. I looked at it and someone replaced the caps and did a shitty job. Ill post pics and see if you guys think i need a new ecm But this isnt the worst part. The car is a awd shell, Still has the axle stubs in on the back but. No rear diff, Driveshaft, Awd Trans/Transfer case, It has the f5m22 for a trans. Im gonna see what year the ecm is from and get a new engine harness for it. But honestly i traded a 87 zx750 Motorcycle for it. The bike was junk and i only had $300 In the bike

There shouldn't necessarily be a reason why neon coil packs shouldn't work. A wasted spark system makes fitting whatever else you want pretty easy and getting the coil packs to fire the way you want is a matter of wiring, not rocket science. That said the DSM ignition system is pretty stout and I have no idea if the neon coils will be as strong but I doubt it and the dwell time is probably different which will wreak havoc on high RPM timing when pushed to the limit.

As for the TPS the car could certainly run without one but not well. The biggest problem IMO, and this is conjecture not real world experience, is dealing with open loop vs closed loop. The TPS is instrumental in dealing with this in situations where throttle input changes quickly. In situations where you mash it and hold on then the high maintained load will throw the car into open loop but not before running into a nasty lean spot just after spoolup.

Ill get some pics Tomarow in the daylight, And of the ecm to see if its deemed repairable.

Snap one of the case number for the ecu and the inside of it if you get the chance.

Here is a couple pics ill upload more after christmas. I tried to get ones of the damage but the cam wouldnt focus good. There is bare copper around the caps. Some holes in the board itself near the caps.
