So I've been having a slight idle issue and some of my local dsm guys think it may be ecu related... specifically this area. There's a name with "ok" written on the plug housing so we assume there's been some previous work done. Any thoughts?

Dear god, that is nasty! Send that out to ECMTuning to have them assess if they can repair that! I would also invest in a back-up ECU. I see you have a 16g. Are you using any method of tuning for your setup?

I bought the car in its current state... only work I've done is fix head gasket and a sbr race fmic. So no means of tuning as of yet. I'm still trying to fix the nightmares inherited.

Also... the white substance on the board appears to be some sort of silicone. Didn't know if maybe it was some kind of sealer or something to prevent any future damage in the event of cap leakage.

As long as you are keeping the boost at stock levels, you are ok with your setup at the moment. If you have an Eprom, send it out to see if it can be fixed and cleaned up. If you have the funds, go for DSMLink to get the most out of your setup. If not, I would check the classifieds or post a WTB ad for a replacement ECU (EPROM or not). A non-EPROM could be had for $40-50 shipped. EPROM will set you back $100-200 range. The only downside is you will need a 90 ECU (EPROM or not). 91-94 would work, but are not plug-n-play.

I was in the same boat as you being a new 90 owner. Check out the profile if you want to see what I found in my ECU. I have now acquired two EPROM ECUs. One to send out to ECMTuning, and the other as a spare.

I was kinda hoping it was fine... i just don't have the money to spend for a few more weeks. Been pulling crazy overtime just to get bills caught up since buying the nightmare dsm.
