I bought this car for $1200 from a mechanic at a local dealership. I drove it 2 miles home and that's about the extent of me driving it. This car is a weird one because it does look like a pos, but when you go past the paint and shattered windshield it's actually a good car. I haven't done much to it because it's either throw a few grand at it and make it a driver or part it out and make a few grand. It just kind of existed for all these years. I have had a couple random offers on it by someone just ringing my doorbell and when I explain what I want for it they decline which is understandable, because well look at it.
Today was almost 60 degrees which is unheard of in end of December around here so I decided to spend the day on it and see if I could get it to be a runner, which it now is. I'm not sure on the ultimate goal for this car, might just keep everything KISS. A straight forward, IDGAF, fast car that's as simple as possible with minimal BS along the way. Roadkill style.

How it sits:

Transmission is BUTTER smooth. I have never, ever, driven a car of any make that's close to as smooth as this transmission is. It's like god himself made it. I doubt it's stock but I have no way to know.
BS delete
ARP headstuds
3g lifters
HK$ 272s
All new timing stuff
v3 Ecmlink
AEM WB, GM IAT, Omni 4-bar
evo 560 injectors and bolt-on AFPR
2x fuel pressure gauges and WB gauge, all of which I want nothing to do with
New alternator and battery
FMIC missing, piping is there + Greddy? LICP cast elbow.
Full coilovers (shocks are trash) and I have new stock stuff to replace them
Strut tower bars
New NGK wires with br7es plugs
Slim fans
Rebuilt throttle body
Aftermarket headunit and oem CD unit (score!)
3" full exhaust with a de-riced N1 muffler (I flipped it, cut off the 5" tip and made it in-line)
Mystery large bolt on turbo with o2 dump and 2g ex. manifold.
3" GM MAFT (removed)

On the to-do list:

Basic 101 stuff, I could probably go on a spree with RockAuto but will refrain.
Change all fluids
New windshield
Put on new suspension
Sort out the wheels
Gas leaks when putting some in, and it dripped out rather aggressively when the car was idling. I'm hoping this is only the rubber part of the filler neck.
Hood latch is missing and I guess that's part of the story of the previous owner's hood flinging up into the windshield.
Swap steering wheel
A driver seat would be nice or just get some race buckets.
Rebuild front lights
Something, anything, with the paint

Strip it down to bare metal and let it surface rust, then matte clear over it. You said roadkill style, embrace the shit out of it.

Also, trade me those HK$ Cams for my garbage BC versions. HKS cams are too good for a roadkill style/tribute build.

Honestly i would take an original paint with fade over my car that has been painted. These cars have a lot of plastics that need to be painted, and the previous owner of mine didn’t disassemble anything.

Man I wish I could find a 1g for that price even in that condition 😩
It's a double edge sword being into cars. I don't want the car but won't get rid of it. I wish I was into collecting watches or guitars or records or anything else that wasn't the size of a effing car.

The hood I had to source local and it just happened to be weathered red. The car was sold to me without a front bumper. That took me years to source and it just happened to be weathered red. Maybe it's a sign. When it's wet it looks decent. I was always afraid to wax it or put something on it like that because if it doesn't look as good as it does in the rain, I'd have put myself in a bad spot trying to paint over the panels that absorbed what I applied.

I'll look around right now, good lookin out.

Ok, so I just scheduled and paid for safelite. 181.90 all done including 39.99 "recycling fee". I figured there would be a catch somewhere. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Wow, I paid a lot more for mine and that was just delivered, not installed.

Safelite contacted me and said the glass was unavailable and they cancelled. I contacted two other glass companies but nothing yet.

It's been below freezing the last week and will be for the next couple weeks, not going to pursue anything on this car until the weather breaks.
